good jingle writer and he has a sense of humor about himself. and he has a place in my musical pantheon for writing "My Way," if nothing else.

But Neil Diamond is far superior.

His new album did not work for me. As a novelty it was amusing for a quick tracking (a minute of each song), but not much past that. Surprisingly, his version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" sounded like the most sincere interpretation on the album.

As a teen idol he was on the second tier. Although that over the top of chorus of "Diana" still gets me. And I just can't get behind his 70's stuff - it's cheesy, but not the fun kind of cheesy. Although my wife will disagree with me on that one. She grew up in a pro Anka and Humperdink household and still has a soft spot for them.

Don't forget Pat Boone.

He was in a Simpsons episode, so that's good. But I agree w/Slack about that new album. There's something a little grasping and desperate and sad about it. Well, to me, anyway. More Pat Boone than Johnny Cash, y'know?
