"My Name Is Earl" starts on Channel 4 (UK) tonight [More:]I've heard good things about this show, and I believe in karma/amends, so I'm going to watch it.

Is the show all it's hyped up to be?
it's mean satire with likeable people
i dunno. i think some of the preformances are great but i'm not often in the mood, recently.
i've seen two, maybe more.
i like crabman.

I will ditto exactly what eth says. And add Earls ex-wife gets all the best mean lines and delivery.

As a caveat, except for the reforming part, I've always romanticized and modeled myself after hapless trailer trash like Earl and co, in case that's not totally obvious.

they are not your neighbors, i take it?

i've only ever scene one episode. It was funny, but the territory is well-trod already.

Well they have been eth, they have been. I mean more the idea of hapless trailer trash like in fiction and my name is earl, rather than the actuality of hapless trailer trash.

It's my version of reading the Red Badge of Courage and then joining the army and being all "Shit, Total...Fucking... GYP!"

I'm really not happy to support a scientologist, but I'm pirating the show from torrent, so I suppose it all works out.

I've quite enjoyed the series. Now, true, I usually watched it when baked, which never hurts. But I find it does the surreal quite nicely, I really like the philosophy of karma, and it isn't nearly as mean-spirited as the other surrealist shows (Family Guy, Arrested Development).
