25 December 2005

I just watched Queen Elizabeth's Christmas broadcast (transcript, video available on the right) and I must say I was impressed. [More:]For the first time in my memory her speech was intercut with news footage and the boys' choir at the end was a nice touch. I thought it was a remakeably inclusive and compassionate message from the head of the Church of England.
I think I've seen news footage before, but I may be wrong. I found it a tad too xian focussed although I understand her role as head of CoE. But still I was looking a bit more inclusiveness. But the choir was a nice touch and yes, it was a class act.

Actually, I was looking for web-hoste dmp3s of early Christmas messages, particualrly the 1939 one.

("A new year is at hand. We cannot tell what it will bring. If it brings peace, how thankful we shall all be. If it brings us continued struggle we shall remain undaunted.")

Any idea where I could find this?

I have no idea, ortho, but I maybe the BBC would have it archived somewhere.
