IRC via Trillian 3 Howto →[More:]
If you really want to use Trillian 3 to IRC (I'm formally verbing the acronym)
here's how:
1. Open Trillian
2.Click on "trillian" on the top left corner (left of "view")
3. Goto "Connections > Manage my connections..."
4. Click "+ Add a new connection..."
5. Click "IRC"

-under Server Alias type "Slashnet"
-below that put irc.slashnet.org:6667
-Below that put TrishaLynn or whatever nickname you want (one word only)
-the two below that fill with random garbage, they don't matter, but I think you must have something there.
7. Click "Connect"
8. Click "Close"
9. Open trillian again (unless its already open)
10. On top of your buddy list should be three circles, hover over them with your mouse and they should say "AIM" or "ICQ" find the one that says "IRC" and click it. (it may say mail accounts for some weird reason, just hover over a different circle and try again)
11. Click "show status window"
12. On the bottom of the window, type "/join #metachat"
13. the window should change to #metachat, if it doesn't look at the top of the status window and there should be a metachat tab, just click on it and you're in.
