Mecha radio (warning: may contain Cat Stevens). [More:]Hi everyone! I'm working from home today, and to keep myself engrossed I'm going to DJ in just a moment (barring technical difficulties). Stay tuned! Oh and donate even if you hate my taste! It is not the dodgy's fault!
Ok it is going please listen!

It's pure fun! Well at least so far. You could incorporate other pure elements for all I know.
posted by panoptican 05 December | 15:15
Yay! I do like pure fun. Impure fun, too. There may be some of that coming too.
posted by melissa may 05 December | 15:17
Yay!

[Did you really play 'Frisco Annie'? And when is someone going to write a song called 'Frisco Fribee'?]
posted by Frisbee Girl 05 December | 15:21
Frisco Annie was from the DJ previous to me. But clearly you need your own song, my god. I can't believe it hasn't happened yet.
posted by melissa may 05 December | 15:24
Now I'm certain that I love you.

On this Diplo track, isn't this the woman who used to perform with Tricky?
posted by Frisbee Girl 05 December | 15:36
Sorry, I could have looked that up before asking. I love her voice and technique.
posted by Frisbee Girl 05 December | 15:38
Me too! She's delicious.

And I am pleased to woo you via mecha radio.
posted by melissa may 05 December | 15:41
I was offered a Frisco Fribee once, but I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

(Dang, won't be able to listen, have to leave)

posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 16:01
I do enjoy the M83. Hi the puppie!
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:02
Well if I've got it, why not? What you want?
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:02
Some Harvey Girls, please. In fact, I demand it!

(And hi, melitha.)
posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 16:05
Nina Simone. Gaaaaah!!

(That was a happy Gaaaaah, by the way.)
posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 16:06
Ohh, and this song describes one of the most wonderful 'electric' moments: the mutual look back.

I was looking back to see if you were looking back at me to see me looking back at you.

Hoo, doggies!
posted by Frisbee Girl 05 December | 16:06
I'm listening at work.
posted by matildaben 05 December | 16:06
Yeah, we demand Harvey Girls. You set yourself up for that. Harvey Girls Harvey Girls Harvey Girls! And to think, I just discovered your wonderfulness yesterday.
posted by panoptican 05 December | 16:09
Puppie dear T don't want to disappoint, I truly don't, but I feel a bit weird doing that. Really. Like a big jackass. But anyone who wants to mecha radio us in the future should feel free; matildaben did and it made me very happy. I do like that matildaben. And there she is! Hi, matildaben!
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:09
Eeep.
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:10
I think I'll be at home tonight. I can do a set after about 6 p.m. pacific time. I'll make sure to throw on some Harvey Girls for y'all.
posted by matildaben 05 December | 16:12
Aw, I don't want you to feel weird. If you chose to do it, it would be weird. But we asked.

So, just one song? For your fans? Pretty please?
posted by mudpuppie 05 December | 16:12
Oh dang it you pulled out the pretty. Ok, then. Dang you the puppie!
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:13

Nice choice. I just rediscovered this old Kate Bush album in my collection a couple months ago.
posted by matildaben 05 December | 16:14
It's one of my all-time favorite Kate songs.

Keep bumpin it edible!

Gofer it, mudd. Melissa, are you going to post your tracklist? I missed the first half.
posted by matildaben 05 December | 16:33
And that's it! The list:

os mutantes -- a menina minha
t rex -- cosmic dancer
buddy holly -- dearest
galaxie 500 -- flowers
cat stevens -- if you want to sing out
roy orbinson -- in dreams
diplo -- into the sun
game theory -- like a girl jesus
magnetic fields -- lovers from the moon
robert wyatt -- Maryan
shangri-las -- maybe
bjork -- pleasure is all mine
m83 -- run into flowers
nina simone -- seems I'm never tired of loving you
the pretty things -- she was tall she was high
portishead -- sour times
kate bush -- the man with the child in his eyes
dj shadow -- transmission 2
animal collective -- winters love
mt. eerie -- with my hands out
the harvey girls -- green light (in your heavy metal mind)

I picked that last song because Hiram wrote it for me, and he is in Boston right now, and I miss him.

I hope you enjoyed the set. Smooches to all!
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:34
Enjoyable set. I hadn't listened to M83 in quite a while so now I must turn up the speakers and bang my head against the wall of sound. And also the table.

Also, Massive Attack was in that setlist. I think after Kate Bush maybe?
posted by panoptican 05 December | 16:38
Oh you're right, panoptican, amend that to include Massive Attack's "Safe from Harm," right after the M83. Way to pay attention!

(Now we get to hear the puppie, hooray!)
posted by melissa may 05 December | 16:41
Game Theory? Damn! I really do truly love you. Sorry I missed the first half.
