Litcon #1: Write a Pun Stealing wholesale from the MeTa thread re: writing contests, I figured I'd start us out on the right foot.[More:]

Literary Contest #1: Write a Pun. In my opinion, the True Art of the Pun is in creating a back-story that is obviously leading to something punny, but unable to guess the punch-line. The more artful you are, the longer your back-story can be and the more tantalizing the clues.

Original puns only, please.

Bonus points if you can involve popular MeFi aliases. Double bonus points if they are caricaturized.
But if I do this I will have to take my attention away from finishing up my Christmas carol parody "The Twelve Days of MeFi".

You are featured prominently in that parody, BTW. Can you possibly guess where?

one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

Granted, none of them feature the names of mefites. I recommend starting with six and three.

I also once told this shaggy dog story on IRC. Names have been changed to protect the innocent; I'm "Sphenion".

Whoops! Should have been "six and four". Three is fairly obscure.

I am the pun master!

oh kenko wins. already.

No way. I have not yet begun to pun.

I much prefer short, self contained puns. I think they have the most finesse:

I have a caraway seed stuck in my teeth, he observed wryly.

"What do you call those?" I asked, Swiftly.

As Will Rogers once said about cigarettes: "I've never met a filter I didn't like."

But then, I always thought Kenko was a warehouse store run by Barbie's ex-boyfriend.

And here's the MetaFilter Tom Swifties thread I liked so much, said Wendell metaphorically.

I hate puns. Hate them. But I like those Tom Swifties.

"Those puns are a blight," said Ethereal.

I want to apologize for schooling five fresh fish on puns.
