A rousing anthem to manic-depressive wagering incl. tiyuri, feathers, coke cans, et al. [More:] Just sharing the day's earworm. It's the hammond what keeps it in the whorls.
...maybe it's just me.

well you don't have to be manic depressive to appreciate it, i will attest, and so will my doctorated friends

but i do ask if someone is a counting crows fan
since you made me listen to them by choice:
they covered an old song from the '80s and i remember hearing it on some stray radio around the just post millenium.

i've been looking for that song forever but i can't think of even a line of it now as your song is on

otherwise: can we make this the manic depressive song thread now?

"big yellow taxi," the Joni Mitchell song where it goes "they paved paradise, put up a parking lot"? Is that the one you're thinking of?

no, this is a song from the early 80's.
joni is pretty easy to recognize.
and i'm sorry, but their version just won't do for it.
i'm trying to find the name of the song. and the original people.
it should be in liner notes or something.
or else they are pulling major copyright sucking assbites.

Apparently they covered "ghost in you" a nice psychedelic furs song from the mid '80s. Maybe that's the one you remember...

I've always liked "a long december" and "horsedreamer's", but really the more I hear of counting crows, the less I like.

i haven't looked at the link yet but i'm thinking it's either got a lyric "wave goodbye" or something of the same era. i will look that one up to find the time frame and maybe remember the song.
it was not popular as far as i know and only know it from a mixed tape someone destroyed.

a ha!
heh, well here's the mystery of this that was on the same tape:
"Manhattan Skyline"

We sit and watch umbrellas fly
I'm trying to keep my newspaper dry
I hear myself say,
"My boat's leaving now"
...so we shake hands and cry
Now I must wave goodbye
Wave goodbye

You know
I don't want to cry again
Don't want to cry again
I don't want to say goodbye
Don't wanna cry again
I don't wanna run away
I don't want to race this pain
I'll never see your face again

Oh but how
How can you say
That I didn't try...
You see things in the depths of my eyes
That my love's run dry
No...

We leave to their goodbyes
I've come to depend on the look in
their eyes
My blood's sweet for pain
The wind and the rain bring back
words of a song
And they say wave goodbye
Wave goodbye

You know
I don't want to fall again
I don't wanna know this pain
I don't want another friend
I don't wanna try again
Don't want to see you hurt
Don't let me see you hurt
I don't wanna cry again
I'll never see your face again

How can you say
That I didn't try
You know I did
You see things
in the depths of my eyes
That my love's run dry
(I don't wanna cry again...)

...So I read to myself
A chance of a lifetime to see new horizons
On the front page
A black and white picture of
Manhattan Skyline
