18 October 2005

I feel like whining. [More:]I just spilled a pot of soup on the floor, stepped on a chunk of glass (which I think is still embedded in my foot, but I'm not bendy enough to get my foot that close to my face for confirmation), and I have the kind of cold that makes you want to drive an icepick through your ear. Also, my feet are cold and the mailbox is full and I need to empty it today so the mailman doesn't start throwing my mail on the roof.

* Sigh. *

Thanks.
Hugs mudpuppie.

I'm also coming down with a cold, AND a cold sore dammit. But I hug anyway, because you're having a worse day than me.

aww jeez. Was it homemade soup?

My back hurts, my stomach is cramping, my work is as tedious and pointless as ever, my feet stink and the omelet I just ate tasted a little funny.

I figure that in the next year or so, a quarter of us will be dead from the avian flu.

I'm gettin the hell outta this thread! You guys are gonna get me sick.
*dons facemask*

I'm worried about the dog flu too.

Washes jonmc's feet and gives him some pepto.

Just like Jesus man.

I don't think Jesus had kidney stones, dude. Then again, kosher food can be murder on yer insides...

Let he who is without sin pass the first stone.

Okay, that was very funny.

Odd thing, right before I went in for my lithotripsy, as I was waiting in our stairwell for pips, I caught myself earnestly praying for the first time since I was a kid. If this keeps up, I may have to ask my mom for a rosary & scapular.
posted by jonmc 18 October | 14:08
That was funny.

And get better soon jon; I've been thinking about you.
posted by tr33hggr 18 October | 14:13
Thanks, man. Soon it'll be all over. When I got home last night around 7:30pm, there was a message from the doctor's office asking me to get in touch. After an evening of freaking out about possible medical/beurocratic complications. I called this morning. They just called to let me know that my pre-op tests were fine.

Jeez. I may have add "ulcer," to my list of ailments soon.
posted by jonmc 18 October | 14:17
My cat is dying. We may have to euthanize her this evening.
posted by brainwidth 18 October | 14:24
What do you use a spatula for, jonmc?
posted by Hugh Janus 18 October | 14:25
flipping out, hugh. duh.
posted by jonmc 18 October | 14:27
Oh . . . I'm so sorry brainwidth. So, so sorry. I wish you and your family the best possible this evening. I hope her/his final days were good as could be.
posted by tr33hggr 18 October | 14:27
Ouch, braindwidth. That's rough. Sympathies to you and yours.
posted by jonmc 18 October | 14:27
Poor poor pup! And jon! And tr33hggr!

I hope I didn't get you sick, mudpuppie.

Can I whine too? So my two best friends (one of whom is the ex) are sucking so bad right now. I feel like they're not being very good friends, and it's making me very mad and sad. In fact, it's all I can think about right now. I'm so mad and hurted feelingsy that I don't want to talk to or see either one of them right now. So I'm not going to. I don't know for how long.

I need to find some people like you guys who are actually in Portland.

On preview: That's very sad, brainwidth. Blessings to you.

Oh, brainwidth...

:(
posted by mudpuppie 18 October | 14:35
And Specklet, if you did get me sick, at least you could have done it the fun way. Hmph.
posted by mudpuppie 18 October | 14:37
I'm sorry brainwidth. My sympathies.

My workplace cancelled all holiday festivities and parties and then moved up our deadline a month, added three steps to the process and proceeded to tell us that we have to work mandatory overtime through the holidays.
posted by sciurus 18 October | 14:44
Me, too, brainwidth. I do think they go to the next life and we hold them again (how could it be heaven otherwise?).

Yeesh, are they going to turn the heat in the building off as a cost cutting measure too?

We have a yearly release schedule, and the way it's been planned in the past, it had the craziest, overtimiest, weekend-coming-iniest part of the schedule right around the holiday season.

At the end of the last cycle, I extracted grave promises and oaths that they wouldn't do this to us again, that they would either push it forwards or back a month.

Well, they pushed it back a month...

... then half way through, added an additional month's worth of stuff and pushed it forward a month.

((((brainwidth)))) And tr33hggr, that sucks about the cold and cold sore. I call my Frankenlips the whole time I'm slathering Abreva on them.
posted by chewatadistance 18 October | 16:31
Thanks yoga, all, but I'm cool. I hope to catch the little bugger and kill it before it gets too bad. But Frankenlips is funny!

Oh brainwidth, I'm so sorry.

I'm still fighting the same cold I had when Specklet and mudpuppie were here, and so is most of SF. It's so damn persistent!
posted by cali 18 October | 19:41
Aw, cali, sorry about the cold. Let me know if you want to borrow my icepick. I'll sterilize it first.

Brainwidth, been thinking about you all day. Hope things go okay. Very sad for you.

Well, we just got back from the vet. Unfortunately, there was nothing more that could be done, and we put Miss Dixie to sleep. Dixie has been my wife's cat since my wife was 11; she's been with her twice as long as she's been with me. Thank you all again for your kind words and thoughts, and give your pets an extra hug from me tonight.
posted by brainwidth 18 October | 20:19
i'm sorry, i can't look at the picture. i know this feeling still too fresh and too well and i don't wanna get anyone else started. i almost quoted something i wrote somewhere but i just can't, not now, especially after the just catching the Charles Rocket thread.
i must sleep, and maybe tomorrow something new will have come into the world so the void is a little less.
good dreams, to you and all.
