If you DON'T like Pina Coladas... Here's something I hope you'll really like...[More:]
As long ago promised, here is a tidbit from the legendary "Widescreen" album by Rupert (Not just 'The Pina Colada Song' but also writer but not singer of 'Timothy' the only top 40 song about cannibalism, and the Tony winning musical 'The Mystery of Edwin Drood', based on an unfinished Dickens story that he wrote 16 alternate endings for, and the long-running but mostly-unseen cable series 'Remember WENN' about an old time radio station that was kind of the grandfather of WKRP and the novel that's the basis of Atom Egoyan's controversial new movie 'Where the Truth Lies') Holmes...

Anyway, preceeding the Colada by five years and four albums, here is Mr. Holmes' take on "Our National Pastime" (and the National Anthem).

If you like it I'll post some other Holmesian oddities like "Second Saxophone", "Soap Opera", "Brass Knuckles" and "Letters That Cross in the Mail".

(note: my first use of yousendit... if it's screwed up, please try to tell me why)
Wendell, I haven't clicked yet, but about how big is it? Things have been a little shaky here recently (I suspect a tricksy memory leak somewhere), so I'm being cautious.

I meant smaller than jonmc's music files...

(I know what you're thinking, and you're probably right)

hm. "Smaller than jonmc's" should become some kind of catch phrase around here, yes?

you know, my high school put on a rendition of Mystery of Edwin Drood. I was Jasper whatever his name is. thanks to overheard conversations the entire school thought I was a dope addict for months.

which might have explained why I could never get my part in the various endings right.

yes taz, I'll help you hold that tiny torch - it has to become a catchphrase. ;P

And here's the above mentioned #17 US hit single from 1971: "Timothy" by the Buoys. Rupert wrote it and it's one of my favorite songs from the decade, and not even in an ironic or kitchy way. Canabalism never sounded so catchy (not even the Police's canabalism b-side "Friends" or Toto Coelo's shot).
