I'm trapped with children. I had to open up the office this morning for a training, and the childcare staff didn't show. Now, I have a cadre of 4-17 year olds and need some creative things to do with them. All of them. At once.→[More:] Oh, and most of them are at least somewhat behaviorally "challneged." I love social workz!!!!one1

Teach them all rock, paper, scissores (there's another variety of that game that's more physical and has a troll, but I can't remember it- help, Metachat!). Have a competition.

Or play poop deck- divide the room into two parts. Call one Poop Deck and Quarter Deck. When you call out the side of the room, they all have to run to that side of the room. Last one over the line is out. You can try to trick them and call Poop Deck but run to the other side, etc.

If the older ones are cooperative, some kind of readers' theater? or do a group storytelling thing were each kid does the next line of the story...?

just don't tell them about toe-eating cats

do a round-robin story thing---start with the older kids and move to the younger.

do portraits--pair up a younger and older and have them draw/paint each other.

do scavenger hunts for colors/shapes or easy stuff, also pairing up older/younger

(and always---duck, duck, goose!)
