Those must be rich as hell. Waiting a day to eat might be because of the wonderful chewiness brownies get around the pan-contact region after they've sat a day or so. The recipe is almost identical to one I made as a child, except the childhood recipe used 2 c. regular sugar (no brown) and 4 squares unsweetened chocolate (not 8). I only had cocoa, no squares -- I couldn't quite bring myself to follow the cocoa box instructions re conversion to squares (3 T. powder plus 1 T. shortening) as that would have resulted in the equivalent of THREE sticks of butter. I went with 2 1/2 (yikes).
