Ever wondered what customs people of other faiths practice... [More:]while tying the bonds of holy matrimony? I'd maybe witnessed it once or twice before, that too in my youth--when I was quite young, so don't remember it that well, but as circumstance would permit, there was one that was going to be held today in the mosque that I go to (it's a stone's throw away from where I live) so decided to stick around and check it out.

The groom looked kinda sharp, dressed in white (wearing the traditional attire of muslims living in the sub-continent) and was surrounded by family and friends, seated around him at the religious conclave it was turning out to be: first there were 10, then twenty, and within half an hour there may have been a 100 souls all there to witness the act and congratulate the young man.

Just the signing of some documents, and the recitation of a few prayers, while the groom promises his soon to be father-in-law to live upto the expectations that were being promised of him, and within half an hour the deed had been done, with everyone now free to go home and prepare for the reception that would be taking place that evening, at a more suitable venue where everyone could let their hair down and the sexes were free to mingle.

You look at these things being carried out and can't help but see how utterly connected we are as a human race, and yet can find the slightest differences that make us individuals and blow them out of proportion.
