So, the Tour de France went past my road today. [More:]
Thousands of people turned out to see the riders, who went past in a matter of seconds. But it was a great atmosphere, and the local Chabad Lubovich Centre was selling Kosher hot dogs and cookies, there was someone making balloon hats. It was a lot of fun waiting for the riders. The sight of them was very impressive indeed.

They'd already done the sprint stage about five miles away in Epping, so our stretch of road was a 'transition stage' to the next sprint in London.
Wow! Totally envious.

I've mentioned that the Tour of California passed right in front of my address last year. I'm in a small semi-isolated complex of rental units, about 20 in all, but everybody who was around was where the 2 driveways emptied onto the road when the riders and all the other vehicles passed by. (Met a few neighbors I hadn't in 7 years at this address) One race sponsor gave us all caps with their logo... I had to wonder, are these TRUCKER caps?

Senyar, that is so cool. When I lived in NYC the marathon went right past my window. Loved watching the runners, especially the slower ones towards the end.
