Sniffed smoke, dismissed it. Then heard fire engines. Looked out (home) office window at the building next door and flames coming out their kitchen. Many fire engines on our street right now.
Whoa scary!
Make sure you turn your fans off and close your windows up as much as possible to avoid getting everything in your house smoky

Done and done! Second random smell in our house today after weird boiled egg smell, presumably from our neighbors. oy.

Ack! Reminds me of the 3 am when we heard an enormous Boom! and discovered our neighbor had just blown his house to smithereens by storing his propane tanks in a way that allowed a random spark to ignite them. Still wondering how he and his wife survived that.

Take good care, gaspode. So glad you are OK.

Even if it's not likely to affect your house, a nearby house fire is scary. I remember kind of late one night hearing my third floor neighbor yelling from the top of the back stairs. The second floor neighbors and I went out, and there was a house on fire like round the corner and right up the block. If you went to the top of the stairs, it seemed right there. You could even see the firefighters chopping into things with axes. Scary stuff!

Glad you're safe, gaspode!
