I'd like to get me a nice big external hard drive. (Not a euphemism.) Hey everyone. I need to buy an external hard drive. This one is available for the best price I've seen for 2TB. Would it be right for my purposes? Which are a) to take all the existing data off my old 2004 desktop which has Windows XP, and b) use it with my new laptop which is a Dell Vostro 3560, which uses Windows 7?
I'm a Western Digital fan myself, and note their 3 TB drive seems to be selling everywhere for about $149, but yes, I would think that would work fine. I'm assuming by "data" you meet photos, documents, and other things the software on your Dell can handle.

Yes, that's what I meant: photos, word and excel files and the like.

I would heed those reviews. This model also does not appear to be very popular on epinion or amazon.

I've ordered it. Let's hope it works out well enough for my purposes.

Agree with Ardiril about the reviews. I had an internal 2T drive that failed in the first week. Luckily it was still under warantee and I was told it was better to get 2 1T drives because there were problems reported with the 2T model.
