I have to say that mean humor usually doesn't amuse me, and I'm definitely not finding it funny that a man from a very underprivileged background isn't familiar with a tropical fruit. I am also not clear on why it would be hard to explain that grapes and a different fruit called grapefruit aren't actually related in color of juice or taste.
So, Aziz, no $5 from me to hear the rest of your number.
Is a grapefruit really that rare? Maybe my canadian upbringing is skewing my understanding, but I really didn't think that grapefruits were any less common than oranges, or lemons or limes?
Maybe my sense of what's mean is off, but I didn't think Aziz came off very mean.
In Ansari's defense (and I'm not a big fan of him, but that's just me), I think the brunt of the joke here is less a man from an very underprivileged background and more the billionaire that owns a 10% share in VitaminWater, featuring such exotic flavors as DragonBerry, Acai-Blueberry Pomegranate, Blue Agave Passion Fruit Citrus, and, yes, Cranberry Grapefruit
