Squid the Cat Turns 20 That's 97 in human years. [More:] Not sure if I am more enchanted by the cat's age or the evil expression on its face. This is definitely a cat you don't want to mess with.
Awwww. I love old kittehs. I had a cat, Ricky, who was 20 when he died. He never, ever guessed it was my foot moving under the covers and not a secret mouse. Apart from that, he was the cleverest cat I've ever owned.

It's funny how old cats all get the same "look" around the face. My oldest cat (that I've had personally) is just about 15 and counting. Knock wood, no health issues (other than surgery recently for an ear hematoma). My aunt did have a cat that lived to be at least 20, though no one is really sure of her age - she was named Wobbles, and she had a neurological issue. Wobbles'es tail curved over her back like a squirrel; she used it like a rudder, as her back end would swing out as she walked. She was a piece of work. Great cat.

Chessie* was 18 when he passed and had that look about him. He was a tough old bugger and wanted to take on dogs 'til the last. Besides him, Abigail and Oliver are the oldest kitties I've had at nine years old. Didn't have a lot of luck with cats when I was was a kid. I lost two of them, at different times, to neighbours poisoning them. The pair before Abbie and Oliver died at five (seizure of some sort) and kidney failure at eight. They break your hearts but it's worth it.

*Short for Chesapeake, which was from Chesapeake and Ohio Railway whose mascot was a sleeping kitten who bore a strong resemblance to my kitten (or vice versa).

My 16 year old cat is kind of senile. She has no short term memory, in that, she forgets she already just ate and wants another meal.

We have a cat next door who is 22 years old. He can't really walk very well anymore--he just sort of limps--but he can still shoot from the ground straight up a fence and onto the garage in about 10 seconds. He is awesome.
