The Baby in the Cornfield. "Why are stories of tornado 'miracle babies' so common? It happened again Friday when rescuers found a blond, blue-eyed toddler in the middle of an Indiana cornfield, 10 miles from her home."
Maybe they've not so much common as something our brains fixate on. If it was a dog or book or non human I don't think it would be reported.

Well, there was that story of a dog last year or so, found with two broken front legs, crawling home after a tornado. Found alive several miles from where it used to live. That made the news. Poor toddler, though, is in critical.

I think dogs would make the news. Some people like dogs more than babies. Including, I must say me, so I was horrified to read redvixen's short description of the dog crawling home on broken legs. : /
