Oh wow, those are fabulous.

I've always wanted to stay in this place in my Ohio 'home town'. It's a bit of a rents-by-the-hour place and has hardly changed from the old-timey picture on its website.

On this day in 1925, America’s first motel, the Motel Inn, opened in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

I stayed there once on a visit a dozen years before I moved here. It was a Motel. (I visited here a lot of times, but once was enough for the iconic motel.) Sadly, it has been torn down (even though we have dozens of other motels in the area, including two Motel 6's 100 yards apart).
