Soup of the evening, beautiful soup... So every week I take part in a pub trivia game at a local bar. [More:]Last week our team came second and thus were allowed to pick one of the special round topics for this week. In a fit of madness, I suggested the topic "Soups." Looking through the Wikipedia page on soup fills me with despair, so hope me by telling me your favorite bits of soup-related trivia, please!
Have a look around soupsong.com!

One of the best pieces of trivia about soup is about sop, the little piece of toast that went into medieval soup. You could ask the question about sop or about toasts, which originated with floating a sop in wine.

You could ask about the various weird kinds of soups or stews that people confuse. Mulligatawny, Mulligan stew, chowder, Cipppino, Turtle and mock turtle -- you could ask about the cultural origin, the key ingredients, etc. I was just reading some stuff about 18th century house parties and one of the most popular was a "Turtle frolic," which you had when somebody got back from going around Cape Horn and stopped off for some sea turtles, which they brought home and cooked up for everybody in soup. Good times!

An Andy Warhol/Campbell's questions wouldn't be out of place. Maybe about the tomato soup paper dress - the Souper dress.

Of course, a Seinfeld reference must be involved.

There's the old kids' story Stone Soup about making soup out of what seems like nothing.

Maybe a question about soup etiquette.

This site is full of all kinds of soup trivia and lore, including expressions about soup ("in the soup," "Souped up") so I bet you can find a bunch of question-worthy things there.

I think you've got a fantastic trivia category here - soup is kind of universal and has given rise to a bunch of pop culture expressions. Have fun!

The guy who inspired the Soup Nazi is named Al Yeganeh and markets his own line of soup called The Original Soupman. The business, Soup Kitchen International, is located at 259A W. 55th St. in Manhattan.

Mentioning the N-word ("Nazi") purportedly results in an indefinite ban.

I agree with a thing about soups and their origins. Maybe do a "match the soup with their country/region" kind of thing.

A recent Saturday Night Live episode created a fake teen trend called "souping" where teens drink what kind of soup to get high? [answer: expired]

Wow, thanks for all your soup trivia! It actually turned out to be a bit of a disappointing round -- just a list of soup names to be matched with countries of origin. Though I do love the way snert sounds! We got them all right, but I think so did most other teams. Boo. The other special trivia round this time (selected by the team that comes last the previous time) was the films of Luis Bunuel, which we got hammered in.
