May I trouble the you for an opinion? Tonight while talking to my brother I floated the idea of sending some of my photos in nice frames to my aunt and uncle for Christmas, and he said he'd like that too. And now I have no idea what I'd even send and what people would even like on their walls.

So if I may, I'd like to post a few pictures and get your esteemed opinions, basically a yea or nay.[More:]

Trees (as per my brother's request):
Trees 1
Trees 2
Tree 3
Tree 4

The other options:
Meiji Shrine Gate
King Street Station
Overlook
Looking back at Seattle
World Fountain
Public Market
Antiques

What do you think, sirs? Are any of these frame-worthy?

I can always find a place for a good black & white photo, and those you show here are all wall-worthy.

My fav tree is #3, but your brother would have pink on wall that may clash with other stuff.
I absolutely love the overlook because the windows offer the possibility of many thoughts and musing. I can look at a pic like that over and over and never tire of it because I bring something different to it every time.

Anyway you can lighten up the right hand side of Antiques?

gc, I think it's a wonderful gift idea. Personality is a big factor into what they might like.

That said, my favorite is King Street Station. It's very well composed. I like all the B&Ws and agree with Ardirill that those are going to be easiest for people to integrate into decor.

Here are my unvarnished responses. My comments are solely about how they would feel in a home, not comments on their general aesthetics or quality. All are good and I think your gift idea is pretty awesome. I love original art and would welcome a nice framed print from anyone.

Tree #1 - love, good anywhere.

Tree #2, I wouldn't want on the wall. There's something about that low wall that seems to mess up the effect for me.

Tree #3, agree with mightshould. Very eye catching but needs to fit its environment.

Tree #4, would be awesome in a somewhat modernist/irreverent/quirkly decor. A great image.

Meiji shrine - great photo, but I think I would get distracted wondering who all those people are and what they're up to. OTOH, maybe that's a feature.

King St. Station - impressive and a little chilly. Best for an austere engineer type. Give this photo to someone who owns a Dyson.

Overlook, love love love, very peaceful, meditative, expansive, relaxing. And good colors.

Looking back at Seattle - best for a hip energetic environment. Maybe a kitchen with clean lines. Or a hallway. It feels dynamic and I wouldn't put it where I was trying to relax.

Fountain - pretty great! that little silhoutted figure in front makes it.

Market & Ferry - a classic shot, good almost anywhere, and will be enjoyed by anybody who likes seascapes, Seattle, or retro neon.

Antiques - great art shot, might be slightly saddening?

Thanks a lot, guys! I really appreciate the responses. I think I have a good idea of what I'm going to send.

Trees #1, #3, and the fountain are all ones I like, but fountain would probably be a good choice for framing.

I like Trees 1 & 2, King Street, Public Market and World Fountain for framing and hanging out of context.

Also, I think this is a lovely gift idea.

I really like the Public Market picture and would hang it on my wall. Trees #1, King St Station and Overlook would also be nice. World Fountain is nice but I feel like it's too familiar--I'd almost wonder if it came with the frame.

Meiji Shrine Gate, Looking Back at Seattle and Trees #2-3 strike me as (very good) tourist photos. Not something I'd put on my wall out of context.

Maybe a bit late to the thread, but my favorites are Trees #1 and Market & Ferry. Choices based solely on emotional reaction and what I would love to see on my wall.

Also late! King Street Station is really great! Possibly a bit masculine or austere (as noted). Though, I am not austere or masculine and I would find a spot for it.

Overlook - lovely! Would hang!

Public Market - might only go with certain color schemes, but would look great if it did go.

Meiji Shrine Gate - also very nice, but probably more fitting if you were the one who went there. (I suppose that agrees with the touristy comment)

Trees 1 is a nice shot but I prefer the above to any of the trees.

Antiques - Spooky. Cool photo but would not hang!
