Anything by Japancakes, especially If I Could See Dallas. It has the song "Vocode-Inn," which is awesome.

From a ways back...favorite song by Joe Satriani: Speed of Light, from 'Time Machine'

Hadn't heard Paul Gilbert before. Pretty neat...spacesuits don't make bad stage clothes!

Surf: Surfaris, Dick Dale, The Ventures

60s British: The Shadows

League of his own: Jeff Beck

Independents number well over a hundred. My favorites are the Mermen.

I was just listening to Bruce Kaphan's most recent album, Hybrid. Really gorgeous stuff - it's mellow and melodic pedal steel guitar with none of the hokey C&W overtones. (Kaphan was in the fantastic American Music Club for many years and has since put out a handful of solo discs.)

Especially Buchanan's "The Messiah Will Come Again," I've put that song on bar jukeboxes and had it quiet the whole place and send people up to me asking "What was that, man?" several times.
