Well, I'm afraid to say this article will be useful to me. I don't think I'm risking my plants plotting revenge; it's mostly that the place doesn't get a lot of light. (Hm. Low light. Maybe if I don't vacuum for a while; keep the curtains closed...mushrooms!) Neat article. Thanks!
I also need it. After years in our low-light apartment that's too hot and dry all winter long, all my pots and water-rooted bottles of pothos finally gave up and expired. I miss having plants.
I'm not great with houseplants, I normally remember to water them when they've gone crispy, which is usually too late, even for spider plants.
But 18 months ago someone gave me a peace lily for my birthday and it's still aliving, hell, it's thriving. I put it on the windowsill in my bathroom, which doesn't get much natural light, and I think the steam in the bathroom stops it from dying of thirst. I remember to water it every now and again and turn it round so the leaves all don't flatten themselves against the window.

After writing my previous comment, I walked into the bathroom and noticed the water-rooted pothos on a high shelf. I had completely forgotten it was there, and I certainly haven't refilled or changed the water in the last few months. The steam must be what keeps it from crisping up when all my other water-rooted plants have long since died.
