You do a thing and forget and then you check a Flickr feed and you're at the top The question for this evening is, of course, what music would you have for the sounder k of your teen Vampire movie.
Me?

Let the sun shine in

Jean Genie

In her prime

I need your loving

Die a virgin

And

Drain You.

Tough question. My teen vampire movie would not resemble Twilight in any way, and choosing specific songs now, I feel, would limit my options as a writer. In the spirit of the question however, I would want Lady Gaga singing an original song over the opening credits (so obvious, I know) and some current male heart throb doing a cover song over the end credits. For the movie itself, I would shove the whole job onto Trent Reznor to develop something much like he did for Natural Born Killers.

For me, I think Joss did vampires best. High school is a perfect setting for something that looks like one thing but then changes to another and could destroy you. I hate romantic vampires. They're anti-human. They're abominations of life itself. They can't die if they stick to their guide lines, and to live they need to take one's life, or convert them to their own. They're horrible things. And the worst part, as Joss identified, is THEY CAN LOOK JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE.

Paranoia, in a high school, with teenagers. Lock 'em in, the whole lot of them. One of them is the vampire, and maybe a few are turned along the way, until the very last two are left. Maybe a few more, so someone has to make a choice.

The music, therefore should reflect the paranoia of the movie. I'm seeing minimalist, staying away from operatic. Something that hits you at the base of your spine and makes your hair stand on end. Something that'd sound like a dark, creepy house settling, like footsteps that could only be in your mind, but you're certain they aren't. Maybe even get into some glitchy stuff. Alien, even.
