Made My First Curry Tonight using this recipe from allrecipes.com. I'm eating it as I type this. Initial verdict: much like its cook, this sauce is in need of some refinement. It's got kick to it -- I used three jalapeno peppers in place of the two serrano -- but it doesn't have the rich, multilayered taste of local restaurant curries. Any suggestions for improvement? (Other than the obvious -- reduce the chiles.)

AskMeCha: Feeling a little powerless here.... This afternoon, in order to replace a light switch and a electrical outlet in the basement apartment bedroom, I turned off the main power switch for the house. And now it turns out some areas of my house (my bedroom, the front hall, and the living room) are without power. I've flipped the main switch a number of times; I've flipped each switch individually. Nada. What should I do?

Bunny! OMG! My friend's partner just had surgery and her hospital roommate was having some trouble because the nurse couldn't seem to insert an IV. One of the other nurses was overheard to say "Send for the bunny!" A few minutes later, this hippie dude in scrubs comes in, sizes up the roommate's arm and slips in the IV needle in one swift motion, no pain, and the patient barely noticed. What she
did notice, however, was his name badge, which said A. FLUFFY BUNNY. My friend subsequently used the google and found the link above.

The Longest Night One Easter Sunday, the Alaska Ranger—a fishing boat out of Dutch Harbor—went down in the Bering Sea, 6,000 feet deep and thirty-two degrees cold. Forty-seven people were on board, and nearly half of them would spend hours floating alone in the darkness, in water so frigid it can kill a man in minutes. Forty-two of them would be rescued. So, later this summer I am going to have a bunch of people over to watch a movie in my backyard on a Saturday night (I am borrowing a portable movie screen and a dvd projector). I want to show a classic that is worthy of discussion afterward, but given the pacing of some older movies and the short attention spans of many of my friends, I want it to be something really engaging and not too terribly long. At this point, my #1 candidate is Dr. Strangelove. Any other suggestions?
