Most vets would like to thank the taxpayers for the retirement benefits, health care, educational opportunities, good reasons to not be abused by substances, steady active duty or portable reserve job, and the opportunity to be around some of the finest young people half their age on a regular basis.

When I think 'veteran' I like to think of what the United States did to end WW1 with the AEF surge, and what the Allies did together to end an objective spread of evil with WWII.

Huey Lewis kinda sums up the experiences of other vets forced into less than compromising overseas situations that may or may not mirror current events.

To all those who fight and fought, thank you for bearing the brunt of our failings. Our peace and safety cost you more than we can imagine. Thank you for keeping us safe from that reality.

Well put, Hugh. Well put.

BP, I had to stop after two of those videos.

(My brother was in the Gulf War, serving on the Big E.)

Today was a hard day. We had two minutes of silence at work at 11.00, punctuated by cannon fire from... somewhere in town. (Pretty impressive actually, that a busy, huge call center would not answer the phones for two minutes.) It was very moving.

Thanks for the dog videos, BP.

Indeed.

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."

Many thanks to the Vets of the past and present.

The dog videos were awesome, BP. Thanks. And don't let anyone tell you animals don't remember people.
