The Weirdest Three Point Status Update Ever I tried to help a lady who had no food to feed her kid today. :([More:]

Yesterday a friend of mine came out as a transgendered person! She appears as a big and burly male. What a fun contradiction (fun for her sometimes, other times not so fun)!

The Secretary agrees with me about how fucked everything is and how to fix it.
1. gMaps lies, my 11.5 mile ride was up hill and down dale, so must be more than 2100 calories. Our arboretum has a dollop of paved trails, but others are hard-packed gravel, huge spiky rock gravel, and greenway. I am pooped.

2. My niece is listening to her Backstreet Boys DVD for the umpteenth time. Antidote suggestions accepted.

3. Visited new CBRF that might take my dad. Just 70 beds, rooms are generous, but hallways and common areas are cavernous. Seems like much more room than I've ever seen in any of these -- it's easily four times as large a facility as one we looked at that houses about 40 people. Mainly concerned that though he has ADLs his personality issues will manifest.

gMaps has put a strain on my marriage, lately.

1. I didn't need to be up until 7.30 this morning so, of course, I was wide awake at 5am.

2. I was on a course today (day 2 tomorrow) on Customer Service. I've been doing the job for 10 years. We do not have customers. It's a waste of time. But they've put the most hard-bitten, cynical people all together on this course, get us out of the way first. We got a nice lunch though.

3. I met Wilder and sueinnyc for dinner tonight. We went to the new Jamie Oliver restaurant in Canary Wharf. The food was awesome and the service, from a very cute boy with funky glasses, was exemplary. He got a good tip. Wilder had green beans in tomato sauce for dessert.

1. About 10 days ago, I met a teacher, who was moving into a new classroom, and stated that she got sick every time she was in there, and wanted some mold sampling done. I went out, met her, shook her hand, met her kids (since it was before school opened, and teachers often bring their bio kids to work with them). I agreed to do a mold test, but told her that we probably would not find anything, which we didn't. I emailed her that info and this is what I got back:

Dan - thank you so much for looking into this. Unfortunately, I think that it was the flu that accidentally coincided with my move to the new classroom. I had a horrible headache for the 7 days, and the only new variable was the classroom. Then, my son got the "headache" with a 102 fever over the weekend, so I'm pretty sure that it was the flu.

2. Got a very good annual evaluation, better than I thought that I deserved.

3. RE: #1. . .incubation period almost over, still waiting.

1. It seems like my body can't decide if it really wants to get sick or not. Go go immune system! I'm feeding you as much OJ and sleep as I can!

2. This woman at my condo association had a leak from her upstairs neighbor (fuck you pipes!) and has gotten SUPER PISSY with the Board and management company even though we've been all 'upstairs person is paying for damages and repairs AND IS REPLACING HER GODDAMN PIPES FINALLY'. Dude, wtf else do you want? Just sell your place AND GTFOOOO.

3. Work has been much too slow. Come on researchers! I know you've got some panic just waiting to bubble to the surface! We're ready for you!

3a. The slowness has been helpful in me spending lots of time finding delicious recipes for tasty baked goods to inflict on my coworkers.

1. In a great deal of emotional pain. Despairing.
2. Lots of Neko Case.
3. So that's why the thousand yard stare.

1. I got the PAXFlu, but not swine flu.

2. Thus, I now have several days of staying home and taking naps, and

3. Watching MST3K.

1. My walk home tomorrow is blocked by the the pre-football game Black Eyed Peas/Tim McGraw concert at Point Park.

2. My wife and I have volunteered to chaperone a group of Tibetan monks who are going to camp out at our church. I'm guessing that they won't be too rowdy.

3. Really really tired, hope I'm not sick.

1. Finally had my long awaited gastroenterologist appointment [previously].

2. I get to have my arse reamed a colonoscopy.

3. Yay.

Note to Octothorpe. I can't believe I get to say this, but I too have played host to Tibetan monks, and the two things that they liked to do were eat and play soccer. I have some awesome pictures of monks sprinting across the grass, chasing down a ball.
With that, my three:

1. Motherfucking KICKASS dinner, which was healthy and delicious and required very little cleanup. The stars were truly in alignment.

2. My new foray into the world as a novice piano player is not going too badly, if I do say so myself.

3. Just watched the first two episodes of season 3 of "The Wire", and DAMN! If that isn't about just the very best show on television. I am starting to despair now, knowing that we are already into season three, and I prolly have less than 30 episodes to go.

3 I finally caved in and got real bandwidth for my neck of the woods. Who ever knew 1.5mb would rock?

22 Joints ache due to stormy weather

111 Kids still haven't seen BO's school address, so I'm downloading it to play for them in the morning.

1. I misplaced my phone last night so had to use a web-alarm clock to get up this a.m. I slept about 4.5 hours last night.

2. I worked 13 hours today. Managed a 40-min nap on the floor of my office and got lots of kudos for a job well done at our org's board meeting. Yay for recognition!

3. There is no 3.

1. Potential new client called this morning, we meet tomorrow to discuss ongoing work for about $100 to $150/week, just what I need. Boring work but $$$.

2. THe veggie alfredo turned out exactly right tonight and there's leftovers.

3. Short date with new guy. Thankfully short as I found he has no sense of humor whatsover. Dang.

I am wistful about watching "The Wire" for the first time. Maybe I'll work my way thru again this winter.

1. My hands are numb and sore. I know they shouldn't be both numb and sore at the same time, but there you have it. My feet, too.

2. Around the same time that we bought a new laptop and got a lovely fast connection and can finally see the whole glorious internet as it is intended to be seen, I seem to have tapered off my use of various social sites, including MeCha.

3. Having a new keyboard that's a fraction of an inch larger means I am all the time hitting the CAPS LOCK. Also, I routinely type og instead of of. I mean, "instead og of."

1. Working my way through all New Zealand treats that I can't get in the US. Today? A custard square.

2. Playing bridge tonight at my old club! Yay!

3. Trying to work on my mother's laptop to rid it of all the crap that my little cousin put on it when he lived here. It's sooooooooooo slowwwww and shouldn't be.

Two weeks ago; I finally, finally found a pair of jeans that fit. Except I put them on today, and they're too big.

You would think this would be good...and conceptually, yes. But...

Damn it, I still don't have any pants!

Ack! (((Miko)))

1. Was accepted to go back to school for Fall for a second Bachelor's, this time in the field I've worked in for years.

2. It's for a CS BS, and I haven't taken or seriously done math in 14 years. Also, I'm slightly terrified of the amount of lab science I have to take.

3. I'm about to become wing-girl (wing-woman?) for a friend to go to a lot of meetups and book clubs in hopes that she meets someone nice. Me, I'm just hoping to make new friends in Portland!

Three-point update, Krakow edition:

1. Great dinner last night at a restaurant with meh service. Mechazens, when you go into the restaurant business and become waiters and waitresses, please be sure to include "service" if you're going to have the gall to write "service not included" in a country where it universally is.

2. Wawel Castle has a seemingly obtuse ticketing system that we can't figure out.

3. Rented apartment in Kazimierz very cool, long walk to stuff less cool.
