bunnylover I have a bunny in my backyard who won't go away. [More:]

More accurately, when we come home, he's often in our shared driveway, and it takes him a little while to figure out where to go so the big metal beastie stops chasing him. He seems quite tame, in that you have to get really close before he spooks. Becca noted that he really likes to be in the driveway, which made me think there are maybe some delectables growing along either side that he likes to munch on. So tonight I ran upstairs and grabbed some fresh baby carrots from the fridge, then placed them in a few places I thought he might find them, but that were away from the driveway. OMG, DISTURBIN THE ECOSYSTEM!

Poor thing. It probably doesn't help that every time I see him I go "OMG BUNNY!" We had a pretty nearly domesticated bunny in our backyard when I was five. I named him Dino, because Dino was my favorite Flintstones vitamin. I'm thinking if this bunny turns out to be a girl bunny I'll call her Dina. One night, when I have more time, I'm just going to sit out there with the carrots and see if I can get him to come up close. With luck and patience, maybe I can get him eating out of my hand.

OMG BUNNY! So cyoot!

Unless he's had access to a garden and is familiar with carrots, he probably won't show much interest in them. If your yard has clover or dandelions, pick a big clump and try to entice him closer to you by leaving a little trail of them from the driveway to wherever you're sitting (and, in the immortal words of Elmer Fudd, be vewy vewy qwiet).

Good luck, and enjoy your new friend, but try not to over-tame him, lest he become too trusting of people who might not have his best interests at heart.

CUT TO: Eideteker Home, INTERIOR:

EIDETEKER: "Now, Bun, I know you're probably wondering why Mom and I scheduled this little talk with you..."

MRS. E: "It's for the best, dear..."

BUN: "Is this going to take long? Floppy just texted me!"

E: "Bun, it's about Floppy, actually. We...well, we don't want to tell you what to do or who you can spend time with...but.."

MRS. E: "It's for the best, dear..."

BUN: "YOU DON'T LIKE MY FRIENDS! ALL YOU WANNA DO IS KEEP ME IN THE BACKYARD LOOKING FOR VEGETABLE SCRAPS, LIKE THAT DUDE FROM FUGAZI!"

E (to MRS.) "Fugazi?"

MRS. (to E.) "It's for the best, dear..."

E: "Bun, like I was saying, we just don't feel Floppy has your best interests at heart.."
