1. I had the best lunchtime I've had in ages today. I and two of my co-workers took a walk over to Mudchute Farm to see if there were any lambs. There were lambs, lots of them! Each ewe had a number painted on her side, and her lambs had the same number. It was really cute to watch the lambs playing together, then Number 3 ewe bleated and two lambs with '3' painted on their sides left the pack and, bleating themselves, found their mum. Oh, they were adorable! There were also goats, donkeys, fantastic exotic chickens, ginger pigs, cows ... I'm going back on Thursday with my camera. It was horrible dragging ourselves back to the office after such a wonderful lunch hour.

2. I got home to a letter from my mortgage protection insurer with a load of waffle about "IMPORTANT CHANGES TO YOUR POLICY", basically saying that they've joined forces with another insurer, blah-blah-blah, change of administrator, no changes to policy wording and in very small print that they hoped I wouldn't see oh, and your premium is going up from £19 a month to £67.55 a month from 1 June. WTF??!! A search of moneysupermarket.com shows me I can get the same cover elsewhere for £17 a month, so tomorrow I'm cancelling. I'd have cancelled it now but their office closes at 5, which in today's financial services market is almost unheard of.

3. Huge, huge football match on TV tonight. It's a 'must win' for both teams. My team is leading 1-0 after the first leg. It'll be very tense.

1. The weather is overcast and foggy, but absolutely gorgeous. I don't mind it at all, because we can always use the rain in my little corner of the world.
2. I get to go eat chicken tikka masala tonight, which is a rarity, so I am super-stoked about it.
3. A girlfriend of mine who doesn't own a television, yet is absolutely positively addicted to American Idol, has been coming over to my house to watch the show for about a year now. I fear that her addiction has rubbed off on me, and I am excited to see the top four perform tonight. I got a bottle of champagne to celebrate the occasion (well that, and the fact that today is my birthday). Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone!

Happy Birthday!

1. Still home sick, feel better in the throat but worse in the ears. I nyquiled myself last night and I think the sleep helped.

2. Talked to Boss and Friend/Freelancer and worked out a solution with minimal fuss, which is a relief. Looks like we were all sort of on the same page to begin with.

3. My sister was going to have a minor surgery today but now she doesn't need it, so we're going out to dinner if I feel well enough!

1. It rained earlier today. Yay.
2. Yesterday, I sent in my theses for a conference I'm planning to attend in September; today, I got a reply where I was asked to specify a few things. The whole time I worked on this, I had a feeling that something was missing, something really important; at one point, I think I knew what it was at one point, but I seem to have forgotten what it was. It bugs me and it makes me feel stupid. I still have time to think it over and modify my theses, but right now, I feel like I shouldn't even bother (stupid, I know).
3. Jan: things like this make me wish we had a TV, especially today. I feel like I could really use a good football match.

1. HR guy for the job I'm up for has now called at least two, possibly all three, of my references. I'm keeping my fingers, toes, legs, and eyes crossed.

2. Nervous about what happens if I get the job, as I'll have to sell all my stuff, including my car, and move to another state in a few short weeks.

3. Another coworker just resigned yesterday, and several others are interviewing. I'll feel bad for a few of those who will be left behind.

1. Database was being fighty earlier today but seems to have chilled out significantly, so I'm making good progress towards having it be ready for show-and-tell to my department before I go out of town on vacation. (So they can play with it without me there telling them how to work things. Then when I get back, I get to see if the paths I've laid out for things to be worked on are what really need to be done or if it's horribly unintuitive.)

2. I feel slightly better than I did yesterday and I'm sure pounding down just about all the OJ in my house and eating the rest of my clementines has helped. Of course, I have a burgeoning cold sore on my lip that I'm attacking viciously with Abreva and so that pretty much confirms an illness running through my system. Somewhere.

3. Ass-kicking phone calls will be commencing after lunch and the boss leaving. I really need to quit being such a chickenshit and put on my big girl pants and call UMD (again) and hope I get a live person so I can hopefully find out WTF is going on. (I also have to call my bank to change my address and order new checks and get the electric bill put in my name instead of pops'.)

1. The boss is giving my producer and me feedback along the lines of, "I don't like what you're doing, but I can't really specify what I don't like about it, nor offer any ideas for improvements." Gaaah.

2. Possibly as a result of #1, I've had zero motivation today, though I need to be productive this week since I'm off next week.

3. I am off next week. And not a damn moment too soon.

1. Got mosquito bites on knuckle of left index finger on Sunday night (how the fuck do they get into my apartment? And then only bite me?) I am allergic, and my left hand is swollen like a motherfucker, painful and itchy. And bright red. I can't take antihistamines because 1. they make me drowsy, all of them, and 2. I'm breastfeeding anyway. ARGH!

2. I would really like 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.

3. Just planned my workday for tomorrow. I will be very busy.

#3 update: Phone calls all made. UMD said that all decisions will be mailed out by May 15. Yeah, y'all said that on March 20th too. I bet I'm going to get fucked out of my classes. The woman at my bank was super helpful and even discounted my checks to less than $10! The electric company was able to switch things, but I won't know if I have to put down a deposit until they send me a letter. Oh well, it's in my name now.

(Whoooo! Congratulations!)

1.) Had two interviews today. Both went very well.

2.) The second one was for a permanent job; the interviewer said that he would be leaving on vacation at the end of the week, so he'd be making his decision by Thursday. Had good rapport with him and didn't run into the usual interview obstacles -- Why were you temping so long? Why didn't they hire you? Why didn't that one permanent job work out? What did you do wrong?

3.) I feel optimistic and positive. Even if these possibilities don't pan out, I am choosing to view this as a wonderful day, as a sign of even better things to come.

1. I went shopping today. You know those tree-and-bush islands in parking lots? Guess where a pair of Canadian Geese decided to build a nest? I had fun talking to other concerned passersby (the male was standing sort of in the middle of the parking lot, and we were concerned that he might get hit), and watching Mama get up, turn a couple of eggs, and reposition herself.

2. I have another headache. More pain reliever. Kick in soon, please!!

3. Good therapy session today. I'm not minding the rain. The house is clean. Life is good!

Woo Twiggy! I send good job hunting vibes to JP, and all other hunting bunnies.

1. I start New Job tomorrow. I'm not nervous, just excited. Haven't had long enough to think about it to be nervous. Also, I have CRAZY HOTT new clothes to wear. I got $900 from the government the day I found out I got the job. Let's just say I did my bit for the government!

2. I've been very crafty in the last week. I crocheted a cool hat for myself, and am working on a scarf, and I'm nearly finished the embroidery I was commissioned to do. The woman I'm doing the embroidery for is paying me to test the pattern, reimbursing me for the materials, and I get to keep the embroidery at the end, after she's photographed it. WIN WIN SITUATION. Also I get lots of patterns.

I've also found a good program that turns pictures into embroidery patterns, and am going to scan and convert a picture that I've wanted to embroider since I was in high school. Am thinking about starting an etsy store to sell cross stitching kits that I will design. My friend Kat will draw them, as she's cute and artsy, I am not.

3. Roast for dinner tonight! Nom! I've been trying to get everything organised so I'm mentally prepared for tomorrow morning. Might go hunt out a hair cut today. Also - cute stockings.
