Lie to Me. I promise, I'll believe. [More:]

Is anyone else watching this show? It's pretty obviously a House clone; Well-known British actor as the gruff, antisocial, analytical scientist. Multicultural (and multigender) team of underlings. Basic premise: everyone lies. And so on.

I've only seen one episode, and I'd say I'm far from hooked. But the science is interesting (and similar to stuff I studied in college), and the show looks better than most of the stuff on the air at present.

Seen it? What do you think?
I've seen one episode and I have about the same take as you. I'll give it a chance.

First episode starts here in an hour. Channel 10 have been pushing it hard, Ro & I are almost sick of it having just seen the promos 1000 times over the last few weeks.

I'll get back to you after I've seen it.

I'm with you and arsey. It may interest me for a while, but I'm not sure about its staying power. I love House, and basically have stopped watching it. There's only so much you can do with the premise.

Eeeep! Eideteker, what are you doing lurking over there in the dark?

Oh, sorry!

It's a lot better than a lot of the shit I've seen on teevee recently. Seems quite a likable little whodunnit. I like Tim Roth & I like Lindsay from The Practice. The other 2 sidekicks seem a bit meh, and I hated the scene where the creepy guy who always says the truth met the girl Roth & Lindsay rescued from her job at the airport.

The 2 storylines were passable for a pilot ep, if a little predictable in the case of one in particular. There was a little bit of CSI type brick over head exposition, but I'll forgive that in a pilot episode. The preview for next weeks episode looks interesting.

I think it's got potential to be a little different, I'll be watching to see where it goes.

House lost me after 2 seasons, as did Lost. I *wanted* to like Eli Stone, but it just did nothing for me. CSI and it's offshoots are so bad they are laughable, NCIS is only slightly better and less funny than CSI, but I still wouldn't voluntarily watch it. I wanted to like Numbers but it's premise didn't even carry me through to the end of it's second episode. I have a soft spot for Boreanaz after Buffy & Anegl, so I really wanted to like Bones, but it sucks.

*sigh* Maybe I need to lower my standards?

One thing that I like about the premise of Lie To Me is that it isn't constrained to one particular genre like many of the shows above - CSI is always murder, House is always medical, Pushing Daisies (which I'm very fond of) is murder, Bones is always murder. The first ep of Lie to Me had a murder and political scandal, next week looks to be an accusation of sexual assault, so the writers have a much broader canvas to work with. Hopefully they'll be able to keep it fresh and not resort to the half of the characters all shagging each other in a few weeks, while the other half get accused of the very crimes they are investigating.

Oh god. Becca loves NCIS. I tried to sit through an episode. It was all "If I can get the IP of this e-mail, we can triangulate the server!" and I couldn't stop snickering at how bad all the technical stuff was. I have since excused myself from subsequent viewings, as she hates it when I nitpick her shows. I can't stand David Boneranz/Angel, but I like Bones ok. NCIS is just baaaaad writing, though. OMG perky goth girl who looks like she's played by someone who's never heard of Bauhaus! Yeah, doesn't do it for me.

I like Numbers, but don't watch it regularly. The last episode I watched talked about entropy and was pretty cool because it expressed some philosophical concepts I'm partial to (which seldom happens outside foreign films lolsnob).

Ooh, good observation. That does show some promise.
