My Beloved iPod Didn't Make It To 2009.... [More:]

This morning, it wouldn't play. Or, it would play, but no sound. All the functions were there, I could navigate fine.

But no sound.

Second issue: the songs started skipping in rapid fashion, like the iPod was on Shuffle in hyperspace.

Any other of you haidz have this happen to your dear and beloved machine?

Will using the Restore function in iTunes solve this, or do I have to go to the Great White Glowing Egg that is the local iPod chop shop in Salem to resurrect my precious?
What kind of iPod is it?

My web server didn't make it to 2009. It crashed two pm on New years day and out of teh six RAID discs, it could only read three which means = totally fucked. SInce nobody is at server park today, I'll just have to wait and see if the website I've been building on for 12 years survived.

the backup is in the same machine.

(in other words, I think the machines are planning a revolution or something, be on guard!)

Chrismear - 80G Classic.
Dabitch - What have I ever done to my precious to make it turn on me so? I wrap it in velvet, I feed it oatmeal squares and pat it's head when the other, bigger iPods laugh at it in the locker room.

I'm Restoring as we speak. Stay tuned.

Wow, that really sucks dabitch. I hope that your backup is salvageable.

You can get a used 80G for really cheap. . .my last two have been used. The bitch is, if you glean stuff from other peoples computers, its hard to rebuild your music collection.

You've tried resetting the iPod. Over the years my iPods have acted weird and a reset/restore/etc has fixed it all up.

Oh my, this is weird. My TV died yesterday!

I'm halfway between sad and glad. Sad because I bought this TV as a college graduation present for myself and it's been my sole TV ever since. Since I'm monumentally cheap, I've insisted upon not buying a replacement for it "because the color is still good," nevermind that it's 23 years old.

Glad because I get to finally watch DVDs at home on something larger than 26".

*My* iPod didn't make it either. It now belongs to someone else. It got stolen on my birthday. :(

a TV, a server, an ipod... I'm telling you guys... something is up!

(thanks jouke, I hope so too)

Okay - the good news is at least the thing plays again, now.

The bad news is now iTunes keeps crashing out every time I try to resync all my tunes after the reset/restore option.

I believe this is all because I dissed the Radio Experience in another thread yesterday.

oops, a little late. Glad it still works LT! Incidentally I lost another ipod just after handing in my dissertation. Luckily I got a new ipod touch over Christmas which I absolutely love!

Hells bells! Now my machine is saying it can't read/write to the HD in the iPod.

I'm hiring a goddamn string quartet to follow my dead ass around from now on.
