Love to eat the turkey like a good boy should Happy Turkey Day to you all. Here's hoping that the joy of your gathering exceeds the pain of your traveling this Thanksgiving. I am getting up at four AM to travel tomorrow. That gathering has very high expectations, which I am sure it will meet.

This year, more than most years, our exercise in assessing our blessings and giving thanks for them will be more important than ever. When times are tough it is good to remember how many blessings we still have. (just keep repeating this and it will all be ok, just keep....oh I hope so)

I play a song, and it plays for a few seconds and stops for a few. I get the little spinny circle in the middle. If I grit my teeth and let the song stop and start all the way through once, it plays okay the second time provided I don't navigate away from the page. I have $65.69 in Ikea vouchers. What should I do with them? If I had a car I might go back to Ikea but since I don't, it will cost me that much to get back. I was going to sell them on Craigslist or EBay, but I'm surprised there aren't already some on sale. Does this mean people just always use them themselves? Or that Ikea shuts down the sale somehow? Their web site explicitly says these vouchers are transferable, although it doesn't discuss selling them.

Ow! I am an eejit. Stupid cooking stories solicited. Making chile today, and decided to roast a shwack of peppers for it. Normally I oil my hands to handle chiles, which has two benefits: it keeps the burn away, and ensures that I'll wash my hands before touching anything. Since roasted peppers are enough of a PIA to handle without adding oily hands to the mix, I thought, "Meh. How bad can it be?"Read more...

Knit Wit On Saturday night, when I was at Value Village, I found a Knit Wit tool kit. By which I mean one of these. Have you ever seen the commercial for those? They used to be on TV when I was little, and I lusted after them. The commercials showed a woman and her little girl happily making afghans. Which, in retrospect, were freaking hideous. But the kit was $5, I thought the tool could be used to make something good, and I do have lots odd balls of yarn I’d like to use up. So once I got home and got some supper cooking in the oven, I went on the net to look for some design ideas. Read more...

They hid the fragments wherever they could". Now that Torah has been restored and is in Los Angeles.
