Old Broken-Down Fartfilter: Anyone Here Ever Have Bursitis? [More:]

I believe I may have a monster case of bursitis in my right knee - the entire joint is swollen to the size of a softball, and won't move much.

The pain is nonstop and has kept me from sleeping for several nights.

I have rheumatoid arthritis, and have had bursitis in both elbows from it already, which is why I think this is the cause now.

What did any of you treat it with, and how long did it last for?

I feel like an old man and I hurt.
I have not, but I genuinely hope you get over it soon. It doesn't sound too fun :-/

Move to the southwest?

Somewhere in my craggy mind i might know something.
i will eventually have arthritis of some sort so i have been accruing info and working on ideas.
Will post pertinent things as they fall out of my head.
Not hung over but brandy didn't sit great last night.

Embarrassingly enough, I had bursitis in my shoulder from overusing it while browsing clothing racks. Yes, Shopper's Shoulder. It got better with rest.

Softball-sized swelling concerns me for you.

My sister has had bursitis since she was 15. She tries to not move much when it flares up and also uses heating pads. Might be worth a try. Hers would last about a week, if I remember correctly.

Do you have a fever?
i'm guessing you've been taking NSAIDs and applying ice, or i hope, but if you're still running a fever, it's been nearly a week already and/or you can't move it to get any circulation, you might have an infection as well so you might want to get checked.
If nothing else, they can give you a cortisone shot that will help right away.
Or, you know, suffer.

I had it (along with tendonitis) in my right ankle when I was a runner. I ran less and went to a physical therapist who made me use a half-ball balance thing to increase my range of motion. I also alternated heat and ice (one morning, one night, but I forget which one when), which helped.
