Help! What artists am I like? I recently released a free album and book (Mefi), and I'd like to put up a last.fm artist page. It would be helpful to know, objectively, other bands I should link this album with.
PS. I ran this by Taz to make sure the self-linkage was OK.

I have absolutely no idea, but I'm loving the music, so thanks for sharing!

Actually, it vaguely reminds me of August Born. But this is not a genre about which I have much knowledge, and I haven't actually listened to that album in a while, so I don't know that I'd trust my opinion. :-)

Electronic genres definitely aren't my strong suit, but it seems like kinda adventurous, jazz-influenced downtempo. Maybe compare it to Amon Tobin or Spring Heel Jack? (Very nice, btw.)

Upon further reflection, Amon Tobin is a much better choice than Spring Heel Jack. But like I said, electronic genres aren't my strong suit.

I'm terrible at 'this sounds like this' but I'm totally loving what I hear so far. Maybe something will pop into my mind as I listen. Thanks for sharing it.

It is so cool to hear that you're enjoying the music! Awesome. And do let me know if you think of anything. I have some ideas, but it's so hard to gauge your own work.

Yeah, Amon Tobin is a pretty good likeness.
Some that come to mind:
Lamb
Sofa Surfers
RJD2 (to some extent)
Squarepusher (this might be pushing it)
some Aphex Twin in there
Wagon Christ
µ-Ziq
Freeform
Third Eye Foundation
RZA (think "Ghost Dog" instrumentals)
maybe even a little tiny bit of Muslimgauze.

Nice stuff. Kinda moody, entropic, jazzy, hip/trip-hoppy.

A good thing to do might be to go into the similar artists radio on Last.FM and punch in some names, see what comes up.

It reminds me of some of Bill Leeb's side projects. Bill Leeb was in Skinny Puppy; was half of Front Line Assembly; and is also Synaesthesia, and Delerium.

If you add in Richard H. Kirk from Cabaret Voltaire and Electronic Eye, I'd say you pretty well have your genre nailed. (Some of your polyrhythms remind me of the Leftfield - Afrika Shox EP, so you might as well throw that in there, too.)

I'm really enjoying your album.
