OMG baby update!!!!! [More:]Recent update is down at the bottom of that page, including the most recent ultrasound pic - mrs. tr33 says baby has my nose. :)

Sooooo, Friday was our second ultrasound. This was to be the biggie, at which we expected to learn what sort of baby we're having in June.

Good news is that everything appears to be going very well. All the important parts are there - legs, arms, hands, fingers, toes, brain, kidneys, and we saw the heart beating. So cool!!

Baby wasn't entirely cooperative though. She was moving around, but kept her feet tucked up by her rear. Soooo, the sono tech wouldn't document it, but said she was PRETTY sure we'd be having a little girl. That's what we're banking on anyway!!

Mrs. tr33 has been feeling her move for about a month, but just in the past week or so I've felt her as well. The past few days it's become very noticeable - a kick instead of a flutter. Awesome, just awesome.

We're starting to build a collection of baby clothes, and already have many of the essentials as hand-me-downs from family (car seats, crib, strollers, johnny-jump-ups, etc.). I put together a dresser/changing table, and last weekend we bought our first installment of diapers and wipes - trying to stock up a little at a time so we've got a stockpile ready when the day is here.

I've been going through periods of glee followed by periods of freaking out, but am mainly trying to get as much of the house ready as possible while working on reducing my anxiety levels (I get kinda freaked out about little things really easy, and that's gotta stop; thinking about trying some meditation exercises . . .).

Anyway, all is well! We're super excited!
Baby! Yay! I think I missed your first post - congratulations!

Incidentally, it's been a rather fertile time for us bunnies. Baby season!

Take mrs Tr33 to the movies. A LOT. Like so that she gets sick of it and whines as you drag her to see the next drama/comed/action/flick.

I haven't been to the movies since the 5th of June 2005. Trust me on this.

The ultrasounds are so cool! I usually can't identify anything at all in an ultrasound, but I think I see how babby is formed in there!

babies! two of my sisters-in-law are preggant, so I'm hearing all of the baby stories and loving it.

particularly since it's not me. Probably a half-dozen people from my high school class have had babies since graduation (two years ago; that's a fairly conservative estimate). Reminds me of this old TPFD comic...

Yay, a little girl tr33! Very cool. I love seeing the heart beating. It's just the most reassuring sight.

Yeah gaspode, that was the moment that got me. That turned panic into protection, worry into love. That's when the tears came and I knew I would do anything for my little girl (or, in the off chance, boy!).

Yay! Good news, tr33. Be forewarned, though, that I've known at least two people who were told they were having a girl and ended up with a boy and at least one that was expecting a boy but got a girl. So don't overbuy anything gender-specific and keep your receipts!!

heh. The key phrase to remember is: "lack of evidence is not evidence of lack".

They should totally stamp that on the bottom of the ultrasound, pode.

Totally LOL!

I love ultrasound pictures! Plus, Mrs. tr33hggr is beautiful! Funny thing, no matter how "prepared" you are, it still doesn't hit you until they put that little bundle in your arms. Then you realize "OMG, what have we done?!" In a good way.

Hopefully.

Congratulations!

Hooray!
With our first the ultrasound tech said, "I don't see any boy parts, but that doesn't mean they're not there."
My thought after, "You know, you can say 'penis'. I think by now we know what it is and what it's for."

Oooo ultrasound show and tell time!

Here's the latest one from me - and we have a definite on the boy parts front but I haven't scanned that one yet.

About 10 weeks to go here and we are just starting to think about furniture - although we did completely rearrange our apartment/rabbit warren to try and magically conjure up more space....

Heh, "boy parts"... I'd never heard it "explained" that way.

Yippie to all expecting! I've so enjoyed our office manager's little girl's arrival and progress - she's 1 year, 5 months now, and really quite a charmer. Mommy was 30 and it's her first! Hope all go as well as this one has.

Big Congrats!

Also, it's true they never commit to what gender the baby might be. There's the tiniest chance they might be wrong and then some parents can react very badly. Over here (at Riket in Denmark) it's hospital policy to not say because some dad went loony when it turned out he did not have the son he was expecting. They said "might be a girl" to me too - ask Mrs tr33, she probably knows best. If it seems right to her then it probably is a girl.

Which is teh ossom, by the way. Girls are! Especially for dads (well, maybe not in the first year when mom is the best thing in the world). The daughter-Dad bond is a very special one that writers of books, movies and TV-shows have kind of missed out on. It starts already when the daughter is wee - I can see it so strong between Perle and Miklas. I find it quite adorable how she'll run all across the yard for a proper dad hug after scraping her knee, instead of turning to me who's right next to her, or how she'll almost die of the giggles at anything he does, even if it isn't that funny just because it's Dad doing it. It's so cute!

I'm pretty dang sure that boys are very very ossom too, I'm just speaking from being a daughter and having one experience. I LOVED my dad so much. Dad's are special.

Wow gomichild, that 4D scan is really wicked! I never had one of those. You can see everything, wow!

First year furniture must-have = A good changing space! That's the most important. You could hang a baby hammock next to your bed or just let the baby sleep next to you but if the changing space isn't in order your days will suck.
