Ask MeCha: is there any way to post links to del.icio.us using an iPhone? [More:]With no copy and paste and no browser buttons or widgets, it's really annoying not being able to do this. Am I missing something? Is there a way?
Apparently, if you sync the "post to del.icio.us" bookmarklet to your iPhone bookmarks, it'll work. Video tutorial.

Being a user of neither del.icio.us nor an iPhone, I can't confirm or deny the truth of this.

Cool, yeah, that'll work just fine. Thanks.

In a related note, I've just spent a fun hour on the train home sitting next to another iPhone user; possibly the world's most clueless one (but a "big technology fan" and Mac user, apparently). He bought it the day after it came out in the UK and:

1: Installed the latest update but didn't know you can move icons around or save links to the home screen
2: Hadn't heard of jailbreaking
3: Hadn't heard of the SDK
4: Didn't know you could email photos
5: Hadn't heard of Flickr
6: Hadn't heard of RSS
7: Hadn't heard of DRM
8: Uses Wikipedia as his "first port all call for anything he needs to know"
9: Hadn't heard of the Zune (yeah, okay, I'll give him that...)
10: Wondered why WiFi discovery wasn't working when he'd never even turned it on
11: Had spent the last couple of months trying to get a custom ring tone but had never used Google to find out how
12: Desperately wanted to edit Word docs online, but never thought to see if it was possible. Google Docs and Zoho blew his mind.
13: Wouldn't shut up about wanting to use Skype on the iPhone

And so on. If you're going to, as he did, spent about £100 cancelling your old phone contract to move to O2 (in the UK) so you can rush out and buy a really expensive new phone, you'd think that a "big technology fan" would have at least played with the new toy and known about, well, the latest technology.

There, I feel a little better.

You think that's something, you should have seen my parents reactions when I installed Firefox and Skype on their laptops last weekend when I was in town. it was like Scanners when that dude's head exploded.

YOU MEAN WE CAN VIDEO CHAT WITH THE BABY WHENEVER WE WANT?!?!?!?!?

Heh, yeah - I had that when I installed Skype on my parents' new iMac over Christmas. After having to suffer a Windows box running XP + Norton with only 256meg of RAM, suddenly having both a modern machine and Skype video with my brother in Australia stunned them.

The train guy couldn't believe that Apple had been so stupid as to put the (shitty) iPhone camera on the back of the device - how could he ever sit in Starbucks and video phone people, he wanted to know? How? How?! Twat.
