The sky is falling! Major ice storms are a pain. And when it starts to warm up, then things can get REALLY interesting.
This I am familiar with, because we don't get blizzards down here, but thanks to our humidity, we do get the occasional ice storm. And yeah, the thaw is possibly the worst part.
We had a bad ice storm last year. I know at least one person was actually killed because a frozen tree branch came down on him while he was shoveling. Dangerous stuff.
Maine was shut down by the ice storm of 1999; it was far worse in Northern Maine and parts of Canada. I got off easy and only lost power for a day, so my friends showered here.
I think it was a section of Toronto that had to be closed down last year because of large chunks of ice falling off of tall buildings.
There were several bad ice storms while I lived in Texas (both in Houston and San Antonio). One kept me home for two days (my car was iced shut) and would have been longer but it melted over the weekend.
