Holy crap - I didn't even know there was a video to this song! This record got weeded out in one of my vinyl pulls years ago, so I haven't heard it in years. Somewhere I've got it on a mix disc partnered with the Hitmen's "Bates Motel", which at the time I thought was quite clever. Thanks for the memory jog!
Even wierder is this "live" performance of the song! And I vaguely remembered liking a second song by Landscape, and then I noticed the video for it in the related videos: Einstein A Gogo. I think I actually dug this one more than "Norman Bates" back in the day, although now "Norman Bates" is definitely the winner.
The video was actually my introduction to this song. Many many years ago, before MTV, there was a late night video program on Denver public television on Friday nights. I only got to see it when I was out visiting my brother. I believe the show was originally called FMTV, but then changed their name to Teletunes. They showed all these great videos. Kraftwerk and Kate Bush were two others I was introduced to this way. Videos back then were really raw and funky. Something that the band did for fun. Micheal Jackson and MTV ruined all that. Hopefully the pendulum is swinging back to where the band makes the video an extension of the song, rather than a promo piece for their look.
Me too! I had it on video - I taped the weekly music show and so I could watch this gem over and over and over and over.. Which I did. Many moons later I finally watched Psycho and heard "My name is Norman Bates... Dee dee DUM" playing in my head throughout the whole movie...
