Best Album of 2007 (or any year, in my opinion...) [More:]

Of course, I invite discussion. But for my money, this is one of the best records ever made.

It hearkens back to early Neil Young, has the down homey music style I crave, and is achingly gorgeous.

These songs are meant for looking out of windows, and for that hitch in your throat from longing or sheer joy.

Oh, my, yes. This was the first album of their that I purchased and it is stunning. I got the previous one last week and will be getting their first in a couple of weeks. They're an amazing group. Here's "Backstage With The Modern Dancers", the lead single from LT's linked album. I'n not sure if this is my album of the year or not as there's still a few albums to be released this year, but it is a very special album by a very special group.

That's a pretty sweet song TDF...I'm gonna have to check these guys out some more.

I've fallen in love with yet ANOTHER Weakerthans record. Reunion Tour continues the Weakerthans vibe, and does it well. They've got a cool little video for the first single too.

Oh, I almost forgot too. They did some really great "webisodes" on making the new record.

L_T, have you heard of The Theater Fire? They're a local (well, Ft. Worth, I think, but whatever) band that I think you'd enjoy based on your music-related posts here. A little tip of the hat to Calexico, but I think you'd enjoy them.

LT congrats, you just gave me a warm fuzzy, as Ongiara is the most recent album I've bought. Not that I really need validation on my music choice or anything, but yanno...

Oh dear. I saw them last Saturday and they didn't, as they say, exactly set me on fire. Nice enough, it seemed, but hardly... nothing made my ears perk up.

Of course I was waiting on tenterhooks for Final Fantasy to hit the stage, so my impatience might have had something to do with it.

[plug]If you ever get the chance, and you haven't yet, do go and see Owen Pallett. The guy is so talented I almost expect him to one day just burst into flame, or something.[/plug]

Sounds like the feeling I get from listening to The Pernice Brothers, Low or The American Music Club.

I'll have to check this out!

Black8 - think more Pernice Brothers, than Low or the AMC. This album is not anywhere near as dolorous as your typical AMC disc.

Good to see you btw.

First time I've heard this band -- it's pretty damn good album. It makes me wonder about their older stuff (which apparently was reviewed a bit better -- but we all know what a load of bullshit music review(er)s are).
