I can haz hugz please? (This is a mopey thread.) [More:]I'm still pissed off and really sad about being dumped. My stomach is being an asshole. I've lost 10 lbs. in the past six weeks. It's way too fucking hot to do anything, which is probably just as well since I don't feel like doing anything anyway. I talked to my mom today and made her cry (with me, not at me). And to cap it all, she got a report back from her doctor that says that a hole in her heart and a misdirected vein are the causes of her pulmonary disease (which actually is a decent cause to have, all things considered). BUT, said hole in heart and misdirected vein are quite possibly genetic; she won't know how likely that is until she sees a congenital heart defect specialist later this month. (And it may mean that I need to give up my suddenly-lucrative freelance gig for a job with health insurance.)

I really hate doing these whining, me-me-me things (sorry), but I need a hug.
Oh damn, I'm sorry, pup.

So sorry to hear this. Sometimes life seems to heap all the bad news on at once.

How's your mom feeling?

A big boobie-squishin' hug to you, my pups. And a forehead kiss, too. That silly girl doesn't know what she's missing. And I hope your mom's condition is "just one of those things." One of those easily fixable one of those things.

Hug, puppie. Hug hug hug. I'll always remember how patient you were with me when I was unceremoniously dumped - it hurts unreasonably, but I hope will heal very soon for you. I'm glad your mom's condition isn't progressive and sounds treatable - and hope your heart's in the clear, both physically and emotionally.

P.S. I have your other five pounds. You can have it back any time you want it. They looked way better on you than they do on me.

:)

Sorry about your mom, pup. And I had no idea things hit the skids with the girl, that sucks. Better days to you and your mom soon.

Rough break, pup. If you were in the Apple I'd buy you a beer and put some Hank on the juke for ya.

Mups, I'm really sorry you're feeling so low. I hope it's some consolation that we all (well I'm sure a whole whack of us) think the world of you, and would smooth out any roads we could.

I can't see El Pups joining one of those evil evil gangs, really. Too mellow. More of a gang controller type. Like the Godfather, but much more attractive. You could probably nix the horse's head from the scenario too. Pups gots chickens, right? She'd leave chicken heads in the beds of her enemies. Sure, ok, like it's not really the same effect as waking up to a bloody great horse's head bleeding gore all over your precious 300-thread-count sheets, right, there's not the whole major gross-out factor there - they're too bitty. Instead there's a fairly heavy squick factor, which is nothing to be scoffed at, let me tell you. You'd probably need a few chicken heads so they don't get lost all at the bottom of the duvet, too. Like ten. No, think about it for a sec, here. Ew, right? ew.
pink glock? is that what they're calling it now? huh. i'm so out of touch...

Yeah. Which is Hi-LAR-ious because one of the reasons I got dumped is that I'm "not assertive enough." (Translates to: Was on best behavior, did not want to scare her off.) She thought I was meek. Heh. I should get letters of reference from you people proving that I can actually be a bit of an asshole, since that's what she apparently wanted.

Oh, the ironies.

Anyway, thanks for the kind thoughts and words, y'all.

My mom's fine. She was diagnosed 18 months ago with primary pulmonary hypertension, about which there is no good news on the internet. Her health is okay, though, and so far the doctors haven't labeled her with the death sentence that most people get. The hole in her heart isn't a bad thing -- it means she's not suffering from something worse. (Identifying a cause is hard, and some of them are more wicked than the disease itself. The disease apparently afflicts 2 people out of a million. Not much is known about it.) She's had the defect all her life and it hasn't killed her so far, so....

I'm pissy, though. I had a good month after many bad ones. Rug's been pulled out from under me. Just doesn't seem fair, somehow. I shouldn't be pissed at the girl, because it's not entirely her fault.

But I am.

Anyway, thanks again. Helps to vent to sympathetic ears. Or eyes. Or whatever.

Is too.

Bouquet. of chicken heads. She'll remember you forever, and not as the nice one.

Glad to hear about yer mom, too.

If she's the one who dumped you -- it's her fault.

Go ahead and be pissed off. You're entitled to it.

Anger's a great source of energy when properly channeled. You can do some great stuff with it.

But I'm sorry you're down and hope you're feeling better soon.

The good thing about getting dumped for no good reason is that they always come crawling back :-D And you can be there at the door, who? What? Sorry, I'm busy! ::SLAM::

Rug's been pulled out from under me.

Yeah, my favorite therapist had a great riff about this, all about the power of brain chemicals. During the first six months of a relationship we're all buzzing around high on romance and drama and excitement and nerves and squishy feelings, which he said were largely attributable to the 'bonding chemical,' oxytocin. But then when the rug is pulled from under you during those first few months, it's a sudden sharp shock in which you've got take the oxytocin loss cold turkey, and it really does resemble drug withdrawal.

He may very well have been full of BS, but definitely its true: when you're all hope and roses and then you get slapped down suddenly, it's unpretty and it feels hideous.

Oh sugar. Drinks. Margaritas? Lots of cheap beer? Jukebox. Full of Loretta and Lucinda and Gillian. And Dolly, too. Staggering home, collapse on sofa. Diner, grits and hash browns, eggs over medium, biscuits, sausage, thin coffee in thick cups.

And then, well, it's still fucking awful, but it's fucking awful with a nice overlay. Hugs, honey.

mudpuppie, this sucks so hard. Wishing your mom all the best for her health for starters. And then with the getting dumped? Yeah. BIG HUGS to you right now. You rock. You *will* bounce back, and she's the loser for letting you go. And eat some of those biscuits that mgl was talking about -- you need those pounds back!

Oh, come on all o' ya. We are not sorry. Pupps deserves better than that! If someone cannot see that being shy and reserved is because you want them to let shine on you crazy diamond, then, this someone's silly. I most personally cannot imagine anybody falling in love or anyway attracted a lot to someone and not being reserved and shy. Oh well, what do I know? I hugz mudpuppie again, in my ignorance.

Okay, oopsie too.

the heart thing sounds like guarded good news - if the defect can be repaired, won't that help the lung problems? And you need to get checked out somehow... come and stay with me or essexjan or chrismear or TheDonF in the UK, you can freelance happily and I'll take you to my local hospital.

Dumpage, however, sucks whichever way you look at it. Sounds like she just wasn't worthy, though!

Ah, big hugs, mudpuppie. When it rains, it pours, and maybe hugs over the internet aren't exactly an umbrella, they're more like towels, but being nestled in a heap of warm freshly-laundered towels can go pretty far against the blues. Especially with all these kittens crawling around speaking pidgin and shredding the screen door. Chin up; you're a star.

Sorry things feel so sucky. At least you and your mom can bond over your broken hearts -- that's very novelistic and lovely. :-)

My cat sits on your lap and purrs and makes you feel better. You know, from a distance. It's a virtual cat-lap thing.

I should stop talking now until the caffeine either kicks in or wears off.

Ugh, mudpup, I'm sorry! Apparently that whole having decent manners thing isn't okay? That's so funny she thought you weren't assertive enough! Apparently your good behavior is too good. Jeez.

So, bunnies, for those of us in similar boats- should one just be as obnoxious as one can get from the get-go? The problem with that, is they'll assume that THAT behaviour IS your good behavior, god forbid. I want a timeline, dammit!

Week One: be super polite
Week Two: okay to hog the remote
Week Three: okay to tell the other person s/he looks fat in those jeans

Any ideas?
