Thanks for the music, i was starting to feel nauseous without it.
Well, actually just nauseous.

i like that you stuff by people i have but haven't gotten to listen to yet.
Love Deus.

GvB!!! Sweet. Thank you!

Eels - 3 Speed
Deus - 7 Days, 7 Weeks
The Who - 5:15
Girls Against Boys - 7 Seas
Queens Of The Stone Age - 3's & 7's

On preview: nope, nope, Girls Vs. Boys, aka Girls Against Boys. Top group, when on form. There's a lot to be said for 2 bassists in one band. And, yay, Deus - so underrated. I think they're headed back into the studio soon.

TheDonF is lining up the rock...but for how long will the numbers allow it? His constraint is mighty and could bring on the arbitrary change up:

Shift-o...presto: mellow, who knows? I'm staying tuned.

i like this QotST better than anything else i've heard from them. i should give them more of a chance.

For a second i thought it was the new Chris Cornell which would have been great since i hear it's much better than the sad solo he did where the best thing on it was the huge cat on the back cover.
It was a mediocre album but a huge cat.
posted by ethylene 22 June | 14:30
I love cats.
posted by safetyfork 22 June | 14:35
Safteryfork: there's a little more rock but then it shifts of to quieter stuff near the end. I was sorely tempted by stuff like Megadeth's 502 but it just didn't fit. Gah.

Eth: interesting what you said about the QOTSA - when I first heard it, I hated it. But it's growing on me, and the new album is certainly better than their last one, which sucked huge balls.
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 14:37
The new Cornell is okay. When it's on form it's pretty good but there's some filler and some definite signs of radio friendly middle aged rocker. Live, though, he's still pumping out lots of sweet Soundgarden classics, mainly from Badmotorfinger.
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 14:39
Oh, Girls Against Boys, I know them, actually; a friend of mine's been friends with the drummer for a long time.

I don't like them all that much, but you're right, two bass players is cool.

Is Dave Grohl still playing drums for QOTSA? It's the only thing he should be doing. He commits a mortal sin every time he fronts a band with another man drumming.

Wish I could listen, but all we got here is WMP.
posted by Hugh Janus 22 June | 14:40
Megadeth would've definitely cramped this vibe. You got to find a balance. I'm sticking around to the end of the set if I can. I'm enjoying it all.
posted by safetyfork 22 June | 14:40
A Perfect Circle - 3 Libras
Soundgarden - 4th Of July
The Black Keys - 10A.M Automatic
The White Stripes - 300 M.P.H. Torrential Outpour Blues
Rogue Wave - 10:1

HJ: Grohl is, IIRC, back in the studio with the increasingly dull Foo Fighters, a band that said all they had to by the end of their 2nd album. They should just release a singles album and call it quits. I saw GvsB last year in London and they were damn cool. Took some pics with my shitty camera phone, threw them on Flickr, got a Flickr mail from their lead singer asking if they could use them!

Safetyfork (spelt right this time): yeah, the Megadeth just wouldn't have fitted. One of these days I will do a metal set. I dug out a load of old Maiden the other day, which was interesting.

Oh, wait, was this suppose to be saucy sex talk radio?
It hasn't got me quite in the mood to do more than a mild shimmy.
posted by ethylene 22 June | 14:57
Grohl's the best rock drummer since Bonham. Foo Fighters suck, not just because their music sucks, but because Grohl actually has someone else playing drums (it's unimaginable!) while he uglies it up with his crappy singing and rudimentary guitar skills. What a douche!

If I was the best buttfucker in the world, even if I found buttfucking distasteful, you can bet your ass I'd be fucking butts all day, every day. Duty calls!

Your namesake is not your calling? Blasphemy!
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:00
Eth: there's no sign of Specklet! How's it supposed to be saucy sex talk radio without her?!

HJ: Yep, Grohl is an awesomely good drummer. Live, he's also an awesomely bad singer. He just doesn't have the skill to do it - he can't hit the notes, ends up breathless and screaming.

i admit to liking the hero song but it might be the video.
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:03
Oh, wait, i mean the one with the big hand. Everlong?
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:04
So you're a four boob man?
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:04
How about one big boob?
Where's jon?
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:05
Jimmy Eat World - 23
Rufus Wainwright - 11:11
Whiskeytown - 16 Days (Yo Ryan Adams: stop putting out your increasing shitty solo albums and reform this group!)
Josh Rouse - 100m Backstroke
Bruce Springsteen - 57 Channels (And Nothin' On)

Mmmmm, 4 boobs *imagines* Er, with your "where's Jon" comment, is that because Jon likes one big boob, or are you spoiling for a fight?!
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 15:10
You know, ethylene, there's no telling how it got that way. Maybe sitting on eggplants, maybe just a single large-caliber howitzer shot into the turl.

Waitasec, Ryan Addams (heh) is from Whiskeytown? They were great. He's a crybaby.
posted by Hugh Janus 22 June | 15:12
Hey, without jon, i'd have no libido dampener and we'd all be in danger.
Sexy, sexy danger.
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:13
Yeah, Ryan Adams was in in Whiskeytown with Caitlin Carey and others. They were an awesome group and, regrettably, his solo stuff is getting worse and worse. He's got a new album out next week ("Easy Tiger") which my brother has had a prmo of for a few weeks. He's a fan, but says it's really not up to much. *sigh*

Sexy, sexy danger? Ooh!
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 15:17
what are you hatching in those egglants by taking it up the turl?

Damien Rice - 9 Crimes

Clogs - 2:3:5

That could have faded out better, I feel. But there you go. Thanks for listening, those wot did. Now, if you don't mind, I have some sexy talk to attend to. Maybe.
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 15:37
thanks for the set TDF!
posted by safetyfork 22 June | 15:38
Thanks. Now i can be away from the heat with the good speakers and strip off in the cool room with worse sound.

Hugh, i never question your capacity.
posted by ethylene 22 June | 15:45
No worries! Hope it wasn't too mellow for you.
posted by TheDonF 22 June | 15:45
Oh no, it was just the thing. i feel much better now and Beatrix seems awful fond of your selections. She sat and listened more than assaulted me.

I had to edit it down a bit - I had about 3.5 hours of stuff at one point and we're not really meant to go over 2 hours. Got any suggestions? I'm always open to hearing new stuff.
