Atheist Filter: I believe the vernacular is acceptable? [More:]

What I should say:

I am spending time this summer in a pre-civil war historic location. I spent some time at this same location thirteen summers ago. Since then, the location has been closed, renovated, restored, and reopened with significant structural changes. Also during these years, two people associated with the location have passed away - one of whom, M, was an intimidating old lady who died of Alzheimer's disease.

Returning to this location that is the same but different has brought back memories of thirteen summers ago, and made me think about passing time and mortality. Smelling certian smells, walking around corners that shouldn't be where they are, etc. provokes uncomfortable feelings of presque vu. I think of M often - maybe my life is headed in a smiliar direction and I shall become what I once feared.

What I mean to say:

This place is fucking haunted as shit.

Gozer the Gozerian... good evening. As a duly designated representative of the City, County and State of New York, I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.

Ray. The next time somebody asks if you're a god, you say YES!

Thinking rationally, you have to paradoxically accept that we are not rational beings. I know that my mind is a boat on an ocean of million of years of instinct and reflex.

We animals get freaked out by places associated with the death of our kind.

And yeah, you see a ghost, you kill it, you kill it dead!

How can you kill a dead ghost thing? Sounds hard man.

Hi Rainbaby! Glad to heart the non-smoking is still going well! Rock on!

rainbaby that's what I thought when we went into the Jefferson that day. You better hurry up and kiss that girl. ;)!

Since you labelled this "Atheist Filter," I'll weigh in with my take: I'd say the place is just a place. You're "fucking haunted as shit."
Hee. I know, Capn. But it's so much more succinct and conversational to say the place is haunted.

Chewie, who was I gonna kiss? I forget.

Oh, for sure, IRFH, for sure. In my defense, it must be a magnet for people who are FHAS, because people dither on about ghosts there frequently.

I dunno rainbaby - you said somethin' 'bout kissin' a girl in a thread awhile back. I figgered if yer gonna be near death and all you might want to get on with it.

I've kissed a girl! I HAVE! So there. You clearly are not getting enough flaxseed*, chewie. Or enough beer.

*I don't know the net carbs

Kick, punch, it's all in your mind. Or (as usual), what IRFH said.
