Finding out that I have to submit the paperwork to my insurance company to maybe get back some of the (amount redacted, but more than I wanted to spend) I'm being charged for new glasses. In the meantime, I can't order them until I pony up the full amount. This while I'm already being swamped by all kinds of other bills AND we're having to do an emergency remodel of the upstairs bathroom so that it doesn't suddenly become the downstairs bathroom.

So yeah, I'm kinda disappointed.

I went crate digging at the local thrift stores today. I must've looked through a thousand records at a half-dozen places, and the best things I found were an Enoch Light album and a Rufus Thomas 'Walkin' the Dog' 45 (well, and Claim to Fame, an old board game I like).

My car needed $800 worth of work before I could get a smog check & I have no money right now so I've been putting it off for months, stressed out about it. Got a ticket for expired registration yesterday though, so I took my car into the mechanic this morning and told him I needed it back this afternoon. He called me at 1:30 and said it would be done in two hours but that he was going to take it across the street to another shop to have one more thing worked on that he didn't have the part for. My afternoon plans were blown so I just said fine. Time came and time went. It was 5pm and he still hadn't called, so I called him.

First he answered the phone "Good morning." Which... okay, whatever.

I said, "Ummm, am I getting my car back?"

"Well, I took it to the other shop." I told him I knew that, but that I had expected him to call me when it was ready to pick it up. He replied, "Oh, well it's ready now. They're all done with it."

I said "Great! Can you pick me up and drive me to it?"

"Oh, well, they're closed now."

I've been working in my house all day and had plans to go into the city and relax tonight. And now I'm stranded and can't get my car until the morning because my mechanic apparently forgot how to use his words & communicate with customers. GRRRR.

Discovering just how much my COBRA payments are going to be, if I don't have a new insurance-providing job lined by the time I quit my current job (which seems unlikely). You mean the dysfunctionality of the fucked-up and utterly suckatroid US health care system affects me too?? UNFAIR.
