New York Couple Hail Cab for 2,400 mile trip -- Cabbie to turn off meter for $3,000 flat fee, plus expenses, for ride to Arizona.

Or... they could just fly on one of the airlines that allows you to take your pet in the cabin.

I once travelled with a group who hired a "man with a van" (he drove a JFK-LaGuardia shuttle) to drive us from JFK Airport to Massachusettes (more than 200 miles). We payed him 600 bucks under the table, and we let him stop to pick up his wife for company on the return trip. All in all, it was the nicest part of that travelling-weekend-from-hell.
