Testing the waters, and possibly your patience as well [More:]While I was playing some recent downloads today, I decided to try a couple of fairly long tunes back to back to see how they sounded. As it turns out, they sounded good enough to get me digging around in the music file. Pretty soon I found myself with an hour and half set of really lengthy songs. How lengthy? The shortest track in the set comes in at 5:47; the rest average around 7 – 8 minutes, give or take, with one cut running over ten minutes. At any rate, I thought I might play the set on Radio Mecha tonight, around 12:30 AM PDT.

Now, ordinarily I wouldn’t whore out a show quite this far in advance, but it is a sad thing when the DJ is the only one listening. I’m aware that this type of music has a somewhat limited appeal, and I’d just as soon play something that has a fighting chance of being heard. So here’s the deal: if you’re gonna be at your computer at that time and would be interested in hearing some krautrock, post-rock, prog and psych, let me know here and I’ll be happy to play it. Otherwise, I’ll just throw together something when I get home and save the endurance test for another time.
I'd love it, were I awake that late.

If I'm still awake then, I'm totally there.

It's worth staying up for, in my humble opinion. But then I would say that, wouldn't I?

Well, a tentative yes is better than nothing...

I'm crashing very soon and all musicked out but I would eat a dead puppy for a zipfile of as much of your set as you're willing to post to me.

I've played 3-4 hour sets that included things like Neu!'s Negativland, Nurse With Wound vs. Stereolab, Yanqui UXO and more, including the live Coil ANS sets. I've considered dropping half hour Acid Mothers Temple jams, too.

You're in fine, if sleepy, company.

No dead puppy eating required. (And, as a dog fancier, may I just say "EWW!") I'm gonna keep playing for a bit, in the (perhaps vain) hope that someone will take the plunge. Since that seems somewhat unlikely at this point, I'll have something zipped and posted sometime tomorrow morning. Or, y'know, perhaps later. It'll happen, though.

BTW, the stuff I'm playing is not quite as hardcore as what you listed, but there might be one or two things of interest.

At your leisure, good man. Sorry I was too wiped out to tune in. I'm always willing to wait patiently to further test the operational capacity of my magnetic storage platters, which teeter ever on the edges of their documented limitations.

Alrighty. I’ve been trying all frickin’ day to upload this thing, but there’s something in Part One that’s not co-operating. Here’s Part Two, anyway. It’s a .rar file. (If you don’t have winrar, go here. It’s really pretty handy to have.)

Also, here is the original playlist – sadly, all I’m able to post at this point is the last six tracks:

Six Organs Of Admittance – Bless Your Blood
Kinski – Steve’s Basement
Hovercraft – Phantom Limb
Yo La Tengo – Pass The Hatchet, I Think I’m Goodkind
Can – Pinch
Mission Of Burma – Donna Sumeria
Turing Machine – Bleach It Black
Comets On Fire – The Bee and the Cracking Egg
Don Caballero – Mmmmm Acting, I Love Me Some Good Acting
Salamander – The Critical Hour
Indigo – Rukblende, Kindheit
Faust - Jennifer

I'm gonna try posting the other tracks individually, but won't be able to do so until I get home from work tonight.

In the first clever move I’ve made all day, I remembered to stick the files on my thumb drive before leaving for work. Here they are:

Six Organs Of Admittance – Bless Your Blood
Kinski – Steve’s Basement
Hovercraft – Phantom Limb
Yo La Tengo – Pass The Hatchet, I Think I’m Goodkind
Can – Pinch
Mission Of Burma – Donna Sumeria
