That's no hipster, that's that dude from My Favorite Martian gone goth. (someday I will be in the Sartorialist as an exemplar of true style. it will happen)
Primordial hipster? For certain definitions of 'hipster,' I suppose. I'd go at least as far back as Mezz Mezzrow, if not the Bloomsbury group or somebody.
I attach mostly positive associations to 'hipster,' because I'm way behind the times. But if I heard 'hipster,' and thought of the new negative connotation, I'd probably be quicker to think 'Warhol.'
When i think "hipster" in the contemporary sense i still think of the think of late 90s music geek/scenesters and what they night be wearing.
The little metrosexual bodyhairphobic boys seem to be lacking all of the better parts of gay and straight men.
When i think hispster, i usually think of the hip people from the early part of the century, from swells to sixties chic.
The Sartorialist seems ... sartorial. And i like it.
Style is style.
i so need to care about style again.
I'm sorry, everyone, but the prehistoric emo guy is the type of guy I usually develop insane crushes for. I've moved on to twee boys, but I think they're basically the same thing, just on different evolutionary levels.
But the "#1 Pete Wentz fan" one had me almost crying from laughter.
This yourscenesucks.com reminds me of the good ol' days when I used to play the Emo Game. I can't believe all that is "prehistoric" now. Ah, good times. Good times.
