Elephant Talk !!!
Autobahn !!!
Excellent noise!!!
I'd give a standing ovation, but I can't get out of bed with my laptop on my chest.

Taz, I hope listening to Turkish music isn't going to get you into trouble.
posted by bmarkey 03 March | 04:04
When I hear "Turkish Music", I think "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" :)

NEU! – Hallogallo
The Residents – Birth
Baba Zula – Cecom
Funkadelic – Funky Dollar Bill
Shuggie Otis – Aht Uh Mi Hed

I first heard Baba Zula in the context of this film, which I strongly recommend to anyone interested in... well, I was gonna say "music from beyond the usual sources", but I think we could amend that to just "good music".

Gah! Denied by my company's firewall :( I'm not allowed to listen to music at work, but as it's Saturday and no one else is in, I'd thought I'd treat myself. Oh well.

As much as I love Roxy Music, I think I actually prefer this version of "Editions of You" to the original.

Jesse Bernstein, The Hands, Mudhoney and the late, lamented Dead Moon comprise the Great Pacific Northwest portion of this broadcast.

The Blood Brothers – Camouflage, Camouflage
The Mummies – (You Must Fight To Live) On the Planet of the Apes
Mudhoney – Editions of You

The Modern Lovers – Pablo Picasso
Nancy Sinatra & Lee Hazelwood – Some Velvet Morning

And that's the end of our evening. Please return your tray tables to their upright, locked position, and thanks for flying Radio b.

fabulous! Killer song to end with. Thanks, bmarkey!
posted by taz 03 March | 05:03
You do realize that the Modern Lovers song is factually inaccurate... Pablo Picasso WAS called an asshole on many occasions.

"Some Velvet Morning"?!?! I have personal memories about this song... and they are the kind that you pay hypnotists to make you forget... AAAARRRGGGHHH...

Not in New York.
posted by taz 03 March | 05:06
Thank you, taz.

Wendell: Pablo was often the dictionary definition of an asshole. Which doesn't really take anything away from the song itself.

Also, sorry for the PTSD thing.
