I had the great-grandmother of bizarre dreams last night [More:]

jesus christ on a barberpole did I have the ancestor of all fucked up dreams last night. Usually I dont remember them but this one was vivid.

the worst part about this one is it was so real. there weren't any truly illogical parts to it like you usually have in dreams, like, you can fly or you have to eat mud at a party or wack shit like that. I mean the whole scenario was far fetched, sure, but absolutely plausible esp. in today's society.

so in it, my x colleague from CU and I were abducted by spammers who were also dealing in black market slaves (!?) handcuffed and hidden in the cargo hold on a flight to somewhere in Thailand. Well we escaped, there was a BIG kerfuffle on the plane, and we got the pilot to land us in Seattle. There was a lot more but the funny thing was having my hiring agent at my temp agency say something like 'but did you file a police report?' and I was like... 'uh, no, actually the FAA and FBI were pretty much all over it and i'm sure they didn't want the local cops involved, but you'll get a copy of the report...'

and then I woke up.

sheesh. weird stuff.

in other news I now have that wretched semi-stuffy scratchy feeling at the back of my throat that means I'm either fighting off or coming down with something.

pray for me.
are you sure you want me to? the things i pray to would probably just make you sicker.

I love it when I have more "logical" dreams like that! Especially when I remember the dialogue after waking and remark on how it made sense, like with you and your hiring agent.

I just remembered I had a reoccurring dream. Well, a reocurring location. Ever have that? Dreams that are set in the same place? I can't remember the last time I had it, but it was probably several months ago. It's like an aquarium. But it was ALSO the church I work at, this time. Anyway the reocurring part of this aquarium is that all the animals are in the same tank (which is like 2ft tall and build on a large table. Think of a normal rectangular fish aquarium for your house, but really wide, and with pathways), and I have a habit of coralling the squid over to the shed where this sea turtle likes to chill out, and then the squid attacks the turtle. I think the first time I had this dream, my mind was trying to remember what large animal squids get into rumbles with, and I guessed wrong, and it just stuck. Anyways, I then feel bad, and tazer the squid with what appears to be a plastic trident made especially for tasering sea animals. And repeat. Over and over. Until my brain decides that the squid has reached it's limit and the squid dies and rises to the top of the water. And I feel bad and think "oh crap." and close the shed door and scoot on out of there, hoping not to get caught.

What does this mean?

Do let us know if you have a followup dream about this event. I'd like to know how the FBI handles it.

That IS weird, lfr. I hate dreams like that, because they leave me a little depressed the next day. (Luckily they're very very rare for me.)

Good luck dodging the cold or sore throat or whatever it is! I finally shook the one that dogged me for over a week... it never got bad (probably why it hung on for so long), but was always just present enough to be annoying.

So, in this dream, you did fly, but you were restrained in handcuffs while doing it? Thailand, rescue, reports?

Sex dream, obviously.

As for the throat tickle, keep your hair dryer handy.

I dreamt that I and someone else (no idea who) were induced/coerced into becoming suicide bombers - we were supposed to board a plane and blow it up mid-air. But as the time approached, we both became fearful, and decided that we would blow up the plane, but not kill ourselves or anyone else. So once on the plane, we commandeered it (i think, this part is kind of sketchy) and took it to a hangar away from everything else at the airport. We then set our bombs to go off a few minutes later, and ran like hell from the plane. The plane blew up spectacularly just as we joined the crowds at the terminal. We hoped that by not looking directly at where the explosion was, we wouldn't look like we were expecting it. But of course we looked right at it anyway.

Of course, the FBI found out who we were within minutes, and we spent the rest of our lives running. (I am not making that up. This dream covered years of subjective time.)

I woke up for a bit, then fell back asleep. The dream rebooted, and began similarly. But this time, before we were able to plant our own bombs, the pilot told us there were already bombs in the cargo hold, set by the terrorists who had sent us. So we ran like hell, and the plane blew up. I thought to myself that it was pretty shitty for the head terrorists to get us to try to blow the plane up suicide-style, since they could have blown it up anyway. "What did they need us for?" ran through my mind.

Thankfully, about this time my alarm went off.

Goddamn terrorists.

And despite the fact I have never been involved in, or even observed, any sort of airplane disaster, I seem to have regular dreams about planes crashing or blowing up.

I haven't dreamt in a while and that makes me really sad. I usually have vivid dreams, sometimes even ones that manifest themselves in my sleeping habits - like this one.

deadcowdan you and me need to go into the moviemaking biz.

CitrusFreak12: that sounds like an awesomely trippy one. I don't have recurring dreams so much these days as I used to. I had two recurring dreams over and over, one about flying in my teens/early 20s (in it, I could physically fly. and one through my late 20s/mid 30s about swimming in absolutely GINORMOUS surf and being able to body-surf it at will. The scenes/locales changed in these but I haven't had either for about the last four or five years.

recurring locales...? hm. When I have vivid dreams like last night's, the locale always seems to be 'current'. Like, when we were kidnapped, it was from Boulder, and there was a heavy snow cover on and it was snowing just as it was last night. I remember this specifically cos the kidnappers were having trouble driving in it and arguing about whether flights would be on time or not at DIA (they rarely ever have weather delays there tho).

and I've *never* been in or even near Seattle in my entire life. I've been to 47 of the 50 states; Oregon, Washington and Alaska are the only 3 I've never physically been in. Now I have this burning desire to go to Seattle just to see if the airport looks familiar... although that would probably really skeeve me out if it did.

I have read that eating popcorn before bed gives you odd/more/vivid dreams.

eenteresting. especially since I loathe popcorn and haven't eaten any in well over a decade.
