cats are weird [More:]

I was bent over giving food to my cats when Garfield decided that I needed some love. So he jumped up on my back and started licking the back of my head. And then dug claws in when I attempted to dump him off. And continued licking the back of my head. I'm cooking bacon and eggs and looking out at the snow. What are you doing this morning?
Sitting here, surfing the web, putting off taking a shower. Looking out the window at the snow as well. Wondering if I should take my camera out on the quad for a picture or two before class starts at 11, or just wait until I'm done with my classes for the day, grab my bike (which is outside at my sisters house! Damn! I need WD40 now...), and ride down to where some farms are and take pictures there. I am torn, because I'm worried the snow might not last.

I've been walking in to work these days, and I noticed a new little chi-chi cafe/coffee shop on my route just off a major street, so I decided to stop in this morning.

It's really nice inside, and they've got a piano, and it's kinda heartbreaking because it's obvious that someone's put their heart in to this place and I just don't think it's going to do very well.

Capn, is it someplace you can clue your colleagues into and/or hold meetups at? Spread the word of its awesomeness, dude! I've thought the same about cool places myself and been pleasantly surprised. Sometimes it just takes a bit for the groove to take hold.

Sitting at my desk, typing away, translating and trying to make my deadline this afternoon, thinking about going to the market afterwards if I finish in time, to buy some tuna steaks. Mmmm tuna.

Also thinking about getting a cat. Or two. (new house has a catflap, yay!) And a piano.

weretable, perhaps your cat needed salt or something, and licking your sweat seemed like a good way to get it? Not the best way, perhaps, but a way.

Today's a work from home day and I blitzed the work early on. I was just getting ready to go out when the bloke upstairs knocked. He'd locked himself out (not for the first time) and wondered if I have a ladder (I do, in my garage). So he managed to get onto his balcony and with the aid of a coathanger and a small open window, he was able to undo the inside lock on his balcony door. He is an idiot. I have spare keys with four of my neighbours in case of key loss/emergency cat feeding.

I just got back from Chingford where I bought a few things to make lentil curry for this evening's supper. I'm going to use the recipe that was in last month's Good Housekeeping (the one with Dr Phil on the front, which I bought on my way home from the US) but substituting normal potato for sweet potato (which I don't like). If it's a success I'll post the recipe on MeCha.

And right now I'm drinking hot, strong, black coffee and eating a pecan, cranberry & raisin muffin.

The weather here is unbelievably mild. So much so that I may have to mow the lawn this weekend.

i was listening to the weirdest birdsongs taunting a cat who was eeking out tiny sounds of yearning, but all of a sudden it stopped.
It was weird enough wondering where all the birds came from.

I'm on coffee #3 trying to figure out how to sell something I've been making. Cause people say oh auntbunny, you should sell those about a couple of things.

My cat sometimes meows with a lisp.

I have no idea what that means

I'm watching the news. It's chaotic in Central Florida. There were multiple tornados last night. Hundreds of homes have been flattened, resulting in multiple fatalities. Thankfully, here in coastal Volusia County we were mostly spared of tornadoes. The inland portion of my county and other counties weren't as fortunate. It's absolutely awful.

Monkey licks my forehead during the middle of the night sometimes. Then she'll wedge herself between the headboard and my head and paw on the pillow and purr. Which is really nice and all but not so much when she wakes me up.

I just got back from the post office. No idea about the rest of the day.

Yeah I have been reading about the tornadoes this morning on a couple of storm chasing sites. Florida has a ton of tornadoes but most are traditionally weak and/or waterspouts. Just another thing to chalk up to global warming, I guess. Not surprisingly this makes moving down there more appealing to me rather than less so.

Today is a GOOD DAY, especially when constrasted against yesterday, which blew sizeable chunks of concentrated suck.

I've got my bike, my class problems are all taken care of, I'm packing up my camera and tripod, and I am going out in the snow and HOPEFULLY I will come back with some nice pictures.

Today has potential.

For whatever reason, my mom used to sorta crouch on the ground to read the paper or a magazine. Our 30# cat, Mike, would jump/climb onto her back and chew on her curly hair while she read. Sometimes she'd fall asleep like this - with the cat on her back.

A bunch of co-wokers and I are going out for drinks and dinner after work. We used to do this every Friday, but stopped as people got new jobs and stuff. I'm very excited.
