FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK I missed my flight and when I called the hotel at the airport to let them know I'd be coming in tomorrow, they said they had no record of me. When I came home, it turned out that I had forgotten to reschedule when I decided not to take the train-- a roundtrip roomette would have been $800+ . I'm really upset about this--Atlanta is one of my favorite cities, I'd been looking forward to seeing people I know and I had been planning to roadtrip through Georgia and the Carolinas after AWP (writers' convention) was over.
Fuck mathowie. Fuck cortex My comments keep getting deleted in the blue. I'd post about it in MeTa, but I can't. I'd email whoever's doing it, but I don't know who. So instead, I'm going to bitch about it here and try not to flame out on the blue.

Ghost Rider? I've loved various incarnations of the comic since I was a tot. I'm not always a Nic cage fan. But I guess I'd better see it? Not expecting a Hellboy or a Sin City, though. Speaking of which: 300? Your thoughts? [A vaguely comicbook movie thread...)

Help me w/ a project? Every day for a year or so (starting last Jan 14th) I'm posting a photo to a website (usually a pic taken within a day or so of posting, but occasionally a revamped img from my photo "archives" raw material.) What can I do to improve the site's looks? And why does my mouse-over link text cut off instead of going on and on like Y2Karl's over on MeFi (the source of dozens of MeTa call-outs, LOL) ? Tks!

LIFECHANGE ! : Check out my new "desk" ! After ten years wasting away in cubicles, stressed to the max, overwhelmed with more work than a person can do, never able to leave it behind at the end of the day... I chucked it all. Went to work in the warehouse. Moving heavy objects (with or w/o a forklift), fixing and building things, etc. OMG BUNNY! I HAVE A BRAIN AGAIN! Nice article about how things are getting better for everyone. So the doomsayers are wrong. Educated men and women are more likely to marry and less likely to divorce than others. And guess what? They have better sex lives, too.
Sorority Evictions Raise Issue of Looks and Bias -- "Delta Zeta’s national officers....judged 23 of the [DePauw University] women insufficiently committed and later told them to vacate the sorority house.

The 23 members included every woman who was overweight. They also included the only black, Korean and Vietnamese members. The dozen students allowed to stay were slender and popular with fraternity men — conventionally pretty women the sorority hoped could attract new recruits. Six of the 12 were so infuriated they quit."

I might have to break up a 14-month love affair between two kids. They grew up together as abandoned orphans on a farm. Suffered together through loneliness, starvation and the cold. They're bonded and play constantly. I don't know if I can do it. But all of my rescue group friends are finally breaking it to me that adopting two big dogs together into one good home with a fenced-in yard is pretty much a pipe dream. I'm sad.

After I'm elected President of the United States, I'm going to put more emphasis on White House Dinners. You see, due to some mistakes I'm planning to make, I'll need to rein in the power of the Cabinet. I plan to plumb the minds of my dinner guests for policy advice and ignore those carelessly appointed idiots who will crowd the Oval Office with their howling idiocy.

So, who should I invite? How can I capitalize on the great opportunity the US taxpayer will afford me to carefully select smart people to share a dinner conversation that will benefit my Presidency and my country, and keep the wolves in the Cabinet at bay? Who would you invite, for the best dinner conversation in the world?
